| A Solidarity Statement of PUP College of Arts and Letters Community (CAL) to free Palestine!

Our news screens were filled with hundred and thousand footages of horrors happening in Palestine. Israeli forces cutting the everyday necessities of Palestinians and bombarding the whole Gaza strip. It is evident that Zionism has something to do with ethnic cleansing as their only goal is to re-establish the Jewish nation with protection, disregarding the liberty to live of other people. An average rate of 250 people in Palestine were killed a day by Israel's military forces. Since October 07, 2023, approximately 35,000 Palestinians, including 15,000 children, have been killed and and roughly 7,000 were missing according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health– a clear proof of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.People’s moral minds cry out for justice–fighting and waiting for the continuous atrocities to cease.

Let our collective ache as we see the life of the innocent kids cut short in the crossfire of a brutal conflict, let the deafening sound of missiles destroying schools and hospitals be an additional factor to stand with Palestine; participate in the Boycott-Divest-Sanction movement and join protest for Palestine! Let us use that to fuel our burning desire for peace. To fight for everyone’s right and to use our voice to speak up for all the atrocities humanity is facing under the hands of its self-serving leaders.

We will never be free until Palestine is free!

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗢𝗛!

| The Rise for Education PUP sent an email of invitation to Student Organizations, Publications, and Student Councils on the upcoming first General Assembly of the Academic Year.

In the current situation of the education sector in the country, the Marcos-Duterte regime continues to promote a colonial, commercialized, and repressive type of education, which makes educational institutions a source of cheap labor for big businesses and foreign businessmen. Aside from the continuous budget cuts in the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs), and the attempts of militarization of the campuses, our university is facing another crisis as Senate Bill No. 2448, or the National Polytechnic University (NPU) Bill, passed the committee level in the Senate last week.

The student movement, propelled by the worsening crisis, has remained firm in its commitment to the struggle for a brighter tomorrow. Despite state attacks against our democratic right to express, organize, and assemble, the youth unites with the broadest masses of farmers, workers, and the urban poor to fight for what is just.

These are precarious times, and in these exact moments we are called to stand up and unite to reclaim our future for our generation and the generations to come.

In line with this, R4E-PUP already sent an invitation inviting any representatives from Organizations, Councils, and Formations executive committee in the upcoming General Assembly of the Rise for Education Alliance – PUP.

The main objective is to discuss the current youth situation and conduct the alliance's first general assembly for the year 2023-2024 this coming October 27, 2023, 5:00 PM Via Zoom Conferencing Application.

Together, Lets Rise for Education!

Dumalo at magpadalo! Sumali sa SAMASA PUP CAL.

ICYMI | THE PUP COLLEGE OF ARTS AND LETTERS STUDENT COUNCIL (PUP CAL SC) CONDUCTED A LOCALIZED TOWNHALL CONSULTATION REGARDING THE PUP 2024 BUDGET AND CURRENT PUP SITUATION ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2023.

All PUP CAL Class Presidents and Representatives and Student Formations were invited to the Local Budget Consultation held on Wednesday, 13 September 2023 from 7PM to 9PM via Google Meet.

PUP CAL SC Councilor and Rise for Education - CAL Main Convener, Hon. Ron Christian Tagle, discussed the current status of the university in light of the continued budget cuts of the Marcos-Duterte administration to the education sector. Constant budget cuts in state universities and colleges across the country are a major impediment to providing every student with the free and accessible education that they deserve.

Grievances and petitions from all attendees were comprehensively collated as an assessment of our local situation in CAL. With this call, we encourage every IsKALar ng Bayan to sign the petition below.

ADVISORY I A JOINT RESOLUTION OF ALL CAL STUDENT FORMATIONS TO DECLARE THE NATIONAL TASK FORCE TO END LOCAL COMMUNIST ARMed CONFLICT (NTF-ELCAC) AND THE HANDS OFF OF OUR CHILDREN MOVEMENT (HOOCM) AS PERSONA NON GRATA AT THE PUP COLLEGE OF ARTS AND LETTERS - MANILA CAMPUS.

As the term of the present student council of the PUP College of Arts and Letters ends today, we shall stick to our core principle — serving for the rights and welfare of our constituents without compromising their basic rights, including their right to expression and to education.

Because of our progressive socio-political stances, we have always been a target of different threatening remarks that puts our well-being into danger. Many groups, including the NTF-ELCAC and HOOCM redtags us for the reason that they do not want us to expose the filthy system that realistically occurs in our state. Thus, we shall not let these remarks take away our right to stand for what is right and fight illicit courses of action.

This is a collective action of the student formations inside our college that demonstrates our will to stand up for the welfare of our primary constituents
