Checking your breasts only takes a few minutes. The earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment. So it’s important to check your breasts regularly and see your GP if you notice a change.
Here's a quick guide on what you should be looking out for when checking your breasts. http://bit.ly/30MJ0AA
Three out of 100 Filipinas will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. In fact, it is the most common cancer among women.
In this month of October, we advocate a healthier Filipina as we promote awareness regarding breast cancer.
What is breast cancer?
Cancer occurs when mutations take place in genes that regulate cell growth. The mutations let the cells divide and multiply uncontrollably.
Typically, the cancer forms in either the lobules or the ducts of the breast. Lobules are the glands that produce milk, and ducts are the pathways that bring the milk from the glands to the ni**le.
Cancer can also occur in the fatty tissue or the fibrous connective tissue within your breast.
The uncontrolled cancer cells often invade other healthy breast tissue and can travel to the lymph nodes under the arms. The lymph nodes are a primary pathway that help the cancer cells move to other parts of the body.
What are the signs and symptoms?
In its early stages, breast cancer may not cause any symptoms. In many cases, a tumor may be too small to be felt, but an abnormality can still be seen on a mammogram. It is suggested that you perform self-breast examination at least once a month.
Symptoms for the most common breast cancers include:
• a lump, swelling or tissue thickening that feels different than surrounding tissue and has developed recently, including underarm area
• breast pain
• red, pitted skin over your entire breast
• a ni**le discharge other than breast milk
• bloody discharge from your ni**le
• peeling, scaling, or flaking of skin
• a sudden, unexplained change in the shape or size of your breast
• inverted ni**le
If you have any of these symptoms, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have breast cancer. For instance, pain in your breast or a breast lump can be caused by a benign cyst. It is suggested to see your doctor for further examination and testing.
Is breast cancer curable?
To start, your doctor will determine your cancer’s size, stage, and grade (how likely it is to grow and spread). Surgery is the most common treatment for breast cancer. Many women have additional treatments, such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation, or hormone therapy. Breast cancer survival depends on its severity, i.e. if it has spread to other parts (metastasized).
Is breast cancer affects only the females?
Breast cancer can also be diagnosed in males.
With Women’s Health Clinic, let’s be health-conscious and spread the word!
CPS-Women's Health Clinic's purpose is to provide optimal healthcare for women and assist them in making right and sound decisions to help improve their well-being.

Hey cysters! September is National PCOS awareness month! Here are some facts you need to know about this condition:
Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder common (1 out of 10) among women of reproductive age.
What are the signs and symptoms?
If you have at least 2 of these features, you may be diagnosed with PCOS.
1. Irregular periods – Ovaries do not regularly release eggs (ovulation) which makes women with PCOS have problems in getting pregnant. For example, women who have fewer than nine periods a year, or more than 35 days between periods and abnormally heavy periods.
2. Excess androgen – high levels of "male" hormones, which may cause excess facial or body hair, acne and thinning hair or hair loss.
3. Polycystic ovaries – your ovaries become enlarged and contain many fluid-filled sacs (follicles) that surround the eggs. (but despite the name, you do not actually have cysts if you have PCOS)
• PCOS signs and symptoms are typically more severe if you're obese.
• You might also have sleep problems, fatigue and mood changes.
• Factors that might cause PCOS include excess insulin, and it is hereditary.
Oh no! I think I might have PCOS! What shall I do?
Diagnostic tests (pelvic exam, blood test, ultrasound) must be done as ordered by your physician to verify PCOS. It is very important to consult your doctor as PCOS can contribute to long-term health problems like type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Is PCOS curable?
There is NO CURE for PCOS, but symptoms can be treated.
What are the treatment options for PCOS?
Having a healthy lifestyle – daily exercise, normal weight and eating a healthy, balanced diet can make symptoms better. Medications such as birth control pills and diabetes drugs can help fix the hormone imbalance and improve symptoms if lifestyle interventions don’t work.
With Women’s Health Clinic, let’s be health-conscious and spread the word! ❤️

The month of August designates the “National Breastfeeding Awareness Month” in the Philippines. This aims to promote and support the normal, natural and preferred method of feeding infants and young children.
Breast milk is widely known as a natural food and a gift of a mother to her child.
It has a wide array of benefits in terms of nutritional needs and the bond between a mother and the baby, thus makes it an ideal start an infant can recieve in life. 🤱🏻❤️
