ATHLETICS | Janry Ubas snags a gold medal after dominating the menβs long jump competition of the in the Thailand Open Track and Field Championships 2024.
The countryβs top long jump specialist posted a best jump of 7.51m to defeat Wen Hua-Yu of Chinese Taipei who registered 7.41m for the silver, and Wong Pak Hang of Hong Kong, who settled for bronze with 7.37m.
The win boosted Ubasβ bid for a Paris 2024 Olympics qualification rankings. He is currently at no. 42 in the World Athletics qualification rankings, where only the top 32 in the list by June 30 will earn allocation for the menβs long jump competition of the Summer games.
Ubas will next compete at the # # Qosanov Memorial from June 22-23 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and at the 2024 Silk Road to Olympic set from June 28 to 29 in Tashkent Uzbekistan.

π½ ATHLETICS | Janry Ubas π΅π bagged the π₯ gold medal in the Men's Long Jump at the 2024 ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships at Philsports Oval in Pasig City today.
The SEA Games champion best jump of 7.83 meters delivered gold medal among 34 jumpers and reportedly to earn around 10 to 15 Olympic qualifying points. The win will help Ubas back to the Top 32 of the World Athletics Road to Paris rankings. Congratulations!

SEA Games long jump champion and record holder Janry-borinaga Ubas will try to solidify his qualification bid when he competes this Saturday at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tehran, Iran.
Ubas, who is accompanied by coach Dario De Rosas to the indoor continental meet, said that he is fully equipped for his first international and major competition this year.
The Misamis Oriental native aims to break his own 8.08 meter Philippine record when he sees action against the regionβs best jumpers.
The 30-year old Ubas needs to hit the 8.27 meter Olympic qualifying standard or earn more ranking points and keep his Top 25 spot in the World Athletics' Road to Paris Ranking at the end of the qualifying timeline on June 30.
Aside from Ubas, Filipino-Spanish John Cabang-Tolentino will also see action in Iran in the men's 110m hurdles.

Our very own Janry Ubas will be competing at the 11th Asian Indoor Athletic Championships in Tehran, Iran on February 17-19, 2024.
The Misamis Oriental native captured the long jump gold medal in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (SEAG), along with a silver medal finish in the decathlon. Ubas set a new SEAG record with an 8.08 meter long jump.
