On this day, we remember the signing of Proclamation No. 1081, which marked the beginning of a 14-year dictatorship under Ferdinand Marcos. This era was defined by the suspension of civil liberties, the silencing of dissent, and the ruthless persecution of activists, opposition leaders, and ordinary citizens. Torture, disappearances, and killings became all too common for those who dared to resist.

But remembering is not enough. We must act. The call for justice, for accountability, for truth must be louder than ever. We must reject attempts to rewrite history and ensure that the horrors of Martial Law are never forgotten or repeated.

Maging mapagmatyag. Maging kritikal na mamamayan. Sama-sama nating tiyakin na hindi na mauulit ang kasaysayan.
