A home-based baker is a cheap baker.
FALSE.
First off, please stop calling yourself “homebaker lang”, that really ticks me off when people say that. Be confident in what you do and your skills, regardless of whether you’re working from home or a storefront bakery.
This myth needs to STOP NOW. This post is both for clients and for small business owners out there who are into baking.
The Truth about Home-Based Baker Being Synonymous with Quality, Not Cheapness
In a world where misconceptions often cloud our judgment, it's time to dispel a prevailing myth that has plagued the realm of baking for far too long. The notion that a home-based baker, especially caker, is synonymous with a cheap caker couldn't be further from the truth. Many home-based cakers are paragons of quality rather than mere purveyors of affordability. The best cakers in the world don’t have stores and are working from home, and not all of them have diplomas from pastry schools either.
1. The Artistry of Home-Based Bakers:
When you think of a home-based baker, envision an artist wielding a brush. These talented individuals, driven by their passion for creating delectable masterpieces, transform simple ingredients into culinary wonders. Working from the intimate setting of their own homes, they are free to unleash their creativity without the constraints of commercial kitchens. Their cakes, pastries, and confections become works of art, crafted with meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
2. Quality at Its Finest:
One of the hallmarks of home-based bakers is their unwavering dedication to quality. While commercial bakeries may resort to cost-cutting measures, home-based bakers understand that quality is non-negotiable. They carefully select premium ingredients, often locally sourced, to ensure the freshest and most flavorful creations. Every bite from their confections is a testament to their commitment to using the finest components and techniques that elevate their craft to new heights.
3. Customization for Every Palate:
In the world of home-based baking, customization reigns supreme. These bakers go above and beyond to cater to their customers' unique tastes, preferences, and dietary requirements. Whether it's a gluten-free cake, a vegan cupcake, or a personalized birthday cake, home-based bakers are masters of customization. They take the time to understand their clients' desires, resulting in creations that not only satisfy the taste buds but also reflect their individuality.
4. Personalized Service and Authentic Connections:
When you choose a home-based baker, you're not merely engaging in a business transaction; you're embarking on a journey of personal connection. Unlike impersonal commercial bakeries, home-based bakers offer a warm and personalized experience. They foster open communication, actively engaging with their clients to understand their needs and desires. This authentic interaction creates a bond that transcends a mere exchange of goods and leaves customers feeling valued and heard. Many of my clients have become long-time friends.
5. Competitive Pricing that Reflects Value:
Contrary to popular belief, home-based bakers provide competitive pricing that aligns with the quality and value they bring to the table. While they may not carry the burdensome overhead costs of commercial bakeries, their prices reflect the skill, expertise, and dedication they invest in their craft. Home-based bakers understand the worth of their creations and ensure their pricing is fair, acknowledging the exceptional experience and taste they deliver.
Now, this is not to say that ALL home-based bakers and cakers are the same as described above. With the boom in the cake industry also came a huge rise in mediocrity and lower quality work, all for a small profit. The artistry is slowly getting lost, but there are many of us who are really good at what we do and only care about quality and premium products. Many of us still use real butter, make real buttercream, are skilled in flowers, figures and other forms of edible medium. Many of us care about your health and the quality of ingredients we use in our products.
To all cakers, bakers, and clients I implore you to shed light on the the misconceptions and embrace the truth about home-based bakers. They are the embodiment of artistry, creators of edible art, quality, and personalized service. Their creations stand as testaments to their passion and commitment to their craft. So, let’s appreciate and celebrate these extraordinary individuals who infuse sweetness and joy into our lives. Support them by patronizing their products without asking for freebies or discounts.
A home-based baker is not a cheap baker.

Cake decorating is a beautiful art that takes time, effort, and talent to master. From creating intricate designs to carefully applying frosting, cake decorators put their hearts and souls into each creation.
While it may seem like an easy job for others, cake decorating is far from it. Every cake is unique, and every design requires careful planning and ex*****on. It can take years to perfect the art of cake decorating, and even then, there is always something new to learn.
Despite the effort and dedication required, cake decorators are often undervalued and underappreciated. Some people even ask for discounts, not realizing the time and resources that go into making a cake. It's important to acknowledge the hard work and never ask for discounts, as it undermines the value of the cake decorator's work.
Cake decorating is not just a hobby; it's a passion. Cake decorators put their hearts and souls into each creation, and every cake they make is a reflection of their talent and dedication. So, the next time you see a beautifully decorated cake, remember to appreciate the hard work and never ask for a discount.
Hope you're having an amazing Wednesday! 💛🐶🐾

Here's a closer look on my entry at Cake Fiesta Manila. 💛
This is really not the original design for my entry, but Mandala Cake is so calming and relaxing.
Who would have thought that we can make a rush 2 tier cake then delivered to SMX? 😁😅
*Long post about my entry*
This is really not my original design for my entry, I scraped off my design last minute. 😅
I was so stressed as there is a lot going on and I can't keep my focus. I'm all over the place on the day of entry submission. I was debating whether I should continue or just not submit anything. It was really all thanks to mamsh Catherine for convincing me to finish and still join. She told me to just stop, pause, and try to clear my mind and remember again what my motivation was to join.
I also ran out of buttercream. Thank goodness someone from Bakersfield Philippines called to tell me that a parcel for me is on its way. A box of Whippit Buttercream! So yes, my entry is 100% Whippit. 😊
As I stared blankly at the walls, I remembered that Mandalas had always been my safe haven. It calms my mind and makes me feel at peace. Then I found myself doing this on my entry. I believe what I did is a healing mandala. Healing mandalas reflect the person doing them. It's not just an artistic expression, but a representation of higher thought and deeper meaning.
If we were to look up what the meaning behind a mandala is, you'll see that a mandala is a symbol of the universe in its ideal form, and its creation signifies the transformation of a universe of suffering into one of joy. It can also be used as an aid to meditation, helping the meditator to envision how to achieve the perfect self.
Some of the symbols I used here, like the dot, symbolize a point from which all things are possible, generating infinite possibilities and potential. A triangle with the vertex pointing upwards represents aspirations and energies. A wheel with eight spokes in lotus form signifies spiritual awakening, enlightenment, and Dharmachakra. The colors are not just for color combinations, they all have meanings too. and when you look at it, it appears to be lit. Because the founders of Cake Fiesta Manila, Valeri Christina, have been a constant ray of light and inspiration. Joining Cake Fiesta awakens our inner desire to express ourselves and brings our passion and skills to the next level. It is a battle between you and yourself alone over how much you've grown since you started your baking journey. As a result, this mandala cake is an expression of lofty goals sparked by inspiration from the Queens, who constantly believe in one's potential and never get tired of showcasing Filipino talents. Opening doors for many opportunities while inspiring bakers and cake artists like me to look forward to infinite possibilities if you will just believe in yourself and take that one big step to go out there and show what you've got.
You see, I may have been guilty of submitting something rushed and not the first option, but it made me realize a lot of things throughout the process. And after all, I still received a merit for my entry. So yes, I am so proud and happy. 💛
Perfect for giveaways or last minute gifts! 🥰
So IG suggested to make this reel. 😅
Some client feedbacks and memories of our baking journey when we were just starting. We wouldn't have done it without the people supporting and trusting us. 💛
I'm actually a bit emotional. Since Christmas and New Year Cakes will be my last bakes here in Lopez for now. As I'm finalizing orders, I'm so grateful for these people supporting me and my business. I even established friendship with others and has become their constant 'kasabwat' for their surprises and ganaps. I even know what some of our clients' personal taste and flavor preferences that their cakes are not only customized in designs, but in flavors as well. (even some of their family members😅) Cakes perfectly made for their palate. They've been with me since day one and still ordering until now. And they constantly tell us how they love our cake flavors and designs. Some of them even have their own personal favorites that everytime they place an order, it's an automatic flavor, no questions asked.
I love how they can easily distinguish our cakes just by our signature frosting. How they can easily tell if I made that cake or not.
Thank you for being loyal to my brand. And thank you for filling up my list with your Christmas and New Year orders. There's no goodbyes, just see you around. Til our next cakes and bakes Lopez! 💛
P.S.
You can still place your orders. But we have few slots left. Send us a message to reserve a slot. 🙂
