The Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) is the only Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)-accredited, integrated national organization of licensed Filipino pharmacists with 85 chapters, 10 affiliate organizations and about 12,600 individual members.
The second in-person provincial run of the 2024 Philippine Pharmacistsโ Association (PPhA) National CPD Program took place successfully at the Paper Country Inn in Bislig, Surigao Del Sur on July 27, 2024.
In keeping with this yearโs theme, โEmpowering the Filipino Pharmacists towards Better Healthcare,โ the program included lectures from Mr. Arjim Luna, member of the PPhA Bureau of Speakers 2024, and Ms. Jevie Lyn Tan-Nery, RPh, MS, VP for Mindanao.
PPhA President, Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, greeted the attendees through a live Zoom message, emphasizing the unified efforts of . Ms. Tan-Nery led the Suriago pharmacists in singing "If We Hold on Together,", signifying solidarity,. Ms. Gloria Oviedo, President of the PPhA Surigao del Sur Chapter, announced the upcoming activities under the theme "PPhA Together for Healthcare."

๐ฃThe first provincial face-to-face run of the 2024 Philippine Pharmacistsโ Association (PPhA) National CPD Program held at the Venue 88, General Santos City last July 20 from 8AM to 5PM was a resounding success with the PPhA General Santos City Chapter, led by its President Ms. Marion Morales Angelo, RPh and officers, spearheading the initiatives. ๐๐
In line with this yearโs theme of โEmpowering the Filipino Pharmacists towards Better Healthcareโ, lectures were delivered by Ms. Vina Rose Dahilig-Talan, member of the PPhA Bureau of Speakers 2024, Ms. Jevie Lyn Tan-Nery, RPh, MS, VP for Mindanao, and Mr. Mark Ryan D. Langit, RPh, MS, PPhA Section Representative for Pharmacy Education.
Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay sent her warmest greetings and inspired the attendees, emphasizing the united efforts of through her live message via Zoom, while Ms. Tan-Nery led participants in singing "If We Hold on Together,". ๐Gratitude to everyone for the success of the PPhA CPD Seminar Kick-off sponsored by Unilab, Inc.
The event, held at the MK Tan Hall Bayanihan Unilab Pasig City was led by President of PPhA, Inc., Dr. Aleth Dacanay and PPhA Education Section Representative, Mr. Mark Ryan D. Langit. This was co-hosted by PPhA South Metro Chapter (President Mr. Mark Anthony Ellana) and Manila Pharmacists Society (representative Ms. Mary Antonette Hernando).
The first presentation on the PPhA Current Dispensing Guidelines for Pharmacists authored by the PPhA GDP Technical Working Group led by Ms. Hazel Faye Docuyanan and Dr. Yolanda Robles was delivered by Ms. Vina Rose Dahilig-Talan. This was followed by the Panel Discussion on PPhA Dispensing Guidelines for Pharmacists: Meeting Today's Health Care Needs with from the team experts, Dr. Yolanda Robles and Ms. Hazel Faye Docuyanan
Discussion on Professional Membership and Development: Tools of Today's Pharmacists was delivered by Mr. Dennis Casares, PPhA VP Luzon, and Ms. Melissa Dela Cruz-Mirto, PPhA VP Visayas.
Lecture 2 about Immunity: The Foundation of Overall Health was delivered by Dr. Jan Paolo Dipasupil, MD, MBA, DipIBLM from Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine.
Lecture 3 featured industry partners who gave updates on different drug products, giving relevant drug information to everyone.
Updates from the two sponsoring chapters were also given by their respective representatives.
Ms. Mary Antonette Hernando, of Manila Pharmacists Society delivered the closing remarks.
The participants went home full of learning insights from this CPD event.

Rebecca "Becky" Flores, a beloved and distinguished figure in the field of pharmacy, passed away on June 27, 2024. Born on January 24, 1941, Becky's life was marked by unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and a profound commitment to advancing the pharmacy profession in the Philippines.
Throughout her illustrious career, Becky held numerous significant positions:
- *President:* Community Pharmacists Association of the Philippines
- *Former Executive Secretary:* Colegio Medico-Farmaceutico de Filipinas Incorporada
- *Former President, Adviser, and Trustee:* United Healthcare Organization of the Philippines
- *Former Director, Executive Secretary, and Vice-President for Luzon:* Philippine Pharmacists Association, Inc.
- *Former Chairman, Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy Section:* Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations
Beckyโs vision was to unite community pharmacists and enhance the quality and competitiveness of pharmacy practice in the Philippines. Her legacy of service, leadership, and dedication will continue to inspire future generations of pharmacists.

JUNE 25, 2024- A very remarkable day for PPhA, Inc. as we celebrated the success of the newly minted 100 immunizing pharmacists๐
The event, held at the Frassati Auditorium of the University of Santo Tomas, was led by IPCP National Program Manager and PPhA President, Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, and graced by the presence of Dr. Evan Payawal, Senior Medical Manager for Medical Affairs at Pfizer Inc. and Medical Director for the Philippine Branch, alongside the OIC- Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy, Hon. Anthony Aldrin C. Santiago. The oath of immunizing pharmacist was administered by coach and assessor, Dr. Imelda G. Penฬa.
Gratitude to Pfizer for the utmost generosity extended through the scholarship grant, gratitude, too, to all the significant people behind this success: 2020-2023 and 2023-2026 PPhA BOTs, all the coaches and assessors, especially to the Assistant Program Manager, Ms. Joy Benitez and lead Assessor Ms. Karen Grace Romero.
The newly conferred immunizing pharmacists come from various practice areas, including community, hospital, and the academe. Selection process was done throughly in October 2023, marking a pivotal advancement in our immunization efforts in the Philippines through education and practice integration.
Congratulations to our 100 new immunizing pharmacists! May your hard work and dedication serve as a beacon in serving our fellow countrymen. Mabuhay ang Filipino Pharmacists! We hail Pharmacy!

In line with the set vision, mission and goals of PPhA,Inc., President Aleth Therese L Dacanay led the review of the notable accomplishments of the good association from the period, July 2023 to date. Correspondingly, challenges and opportunities for further improvement were discussed. Moving forward, sustainable plans of action that will serve and benefit the general membership, relevant stakeholders, and the entire pharmacy profession were highlighted and elaborated by the respective functional committees.

๐Another 1st for PPhA!
The Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) has once again achieved a significant milestone by orchestrating the 1st ever convergence of pharmacy retailers in the Philippines. Represented in this first brainstorming forum were the chain of drugstores from Mercury, Watsons and the Robinson conglomerate - Southstar Drug, The Generics Pharmacy (TGP) and Rose Pharmacy alongwith the Drugstore Association of the Philippines (DSAP) / Community Pharmacists of DSAP (CPHAD).
This initial forum provided a platform for pharmacy retailers to come together, discuss common challenges and explore possible solutions with a unified voice. This only underscores PPhAโs commitment to advancing the pharmacy profession and enhancing the quality of pharmaceutical services provided at the retail level. Moving on with this initiative, PPhA, Inc. intends to eventually welcome, engage, and unite all pharmacy retailers in the country to further strengthen our contribution to the fruition of the universal health care goals.

The PPhA joins the Professional Regulation Commission in celebrating its 51st Founding Anniversary and the 2024 Professional Regulation Week, with the theme "Bagong Pilipinas: Pagpupugay sa Makabago at Mapanlikhang Propesyonal ng Bayan," from June 16โ22, 2024, 2024.
Ms. Hazel Faye Docuyanan, Executive Vice President, represented the PPhA, alongside Hon. Aldrin Santiago, OIC of the Board of Pharmacy, with the PPhA staff. The event was graced by various professional societies and PRC units, all united in celebrating the innovative and creative professionals of our nation.
