Deaf Represent at Benilde Open
In response to curiosity, a group of Deaf alumni showcased the power of visual language in "Curious: Spotlight on FSL Literature" at this year's Benilde Open Art and Design exhibit.
The project, spearheaded by Michael T. Vea, presents the creative works of five Deaf fellows from the country's first Creative Signing Workshop. These are the works of Shaquille Y. De Guzman, Nathaniel Macariola, Lorhen Joy Sumili, Patrick Silver Padao, and Francis Ethelbert Pagaduan.
The exhibit features different creative stories in FSL, enhanced with visual artistry and cinematography. It addresses the curious mind's questions about how Deaf people share stories and how their visual language creates narratives that offer a glimpse into their culture and daily life. The exhibit will run from May 23 to June 30, 2024, on the 7th floor of the Design and Art Campus of DLS-CSB.
