As a community, we must raise awareness to incidents like these that can severely impact not only the marine life in our environment but also the livelihoods of countless of our fishermen.

Oil spills can coat birds and mammals, hindering their ability to move and function as well as poisoning marine life.

Through donating resources or sorbent materials to NGOs that conduct cleanup drives in the coasts, we can help bring forth positive change and aid in the recovery of our nation.

The event, which took place at the 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭 & 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 in 𝐀𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐧 last 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟖-𝟐𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒. This organization provides a platform for young biologists to present their research and engage in knowledge-sharing with their peers and professionals in the field.

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐋𝐌 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐬 in the Young Biologists Forum. Two teams, led by 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐞 𝐑. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐳 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐛 𝐒. 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨, respectively, 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐢-𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝. Dela Cruz showcased his study titled "In silico screening of Mentha arvensis natural products for analgesic potential via the cyclooxygenase pathway" while Villarino presented "Ferritin nanoparticle conjugated with T12 and Pep-1-L as a potential delivery system in glioblastoma multiforme" and both projects left a positive impression on the judges. In the final round, out of the top 6 presenters, 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 on ferritin nanoparticles 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡.

Moreover, three groups participated in the 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 competition, showcasing their research in the Health and Biotechnology category. These presentations explored diverse topics, including epidemiological studies on allergies, the impact of common plastic components on the nervous system and the potential use of natural compounds against COVID-19.
