TALES of Marawi

𝐀 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐔𝐓𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄: 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐖𝐈 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘!

On August 18, 2024, Marawi City proudly unveiled four national historical markers installed by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP). These markers commemorate significant events and influential figures in the city’s history: 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢, placed at Lanao People’s Park and Public Library (LPPPL); 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢, also placed at Lanao People’s Park and Public Library (LPPPL); 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐢 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐩𝐚𝐤, placed at Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School (APCES); 𝐊𝐨𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢, placed at the Marawi City Hall Complex.

The installation of these markers was a collective achievement made possible through the collaborative efforts of the TALES of Marawi Project Management Unit, the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism - BARMM, the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH - Lanao del Sur), the Provincial Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office (PTCAO), the City of Marawi, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. This initiative not only underscores our shared commitment to preserving cultural heritage but also strategically integrates cultural tourism, further enriching the region’s historical and cultural landscape.

The unveiling of these markers highlights Marawi’s lasting legacy, celebrating the city’s resilience, culture, and history. Together, these organizations ensure that Marawi’s stories are preserved and honored for future generations. 🌟

𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗡𝗔𝗡: Pinasinayaan ang apat na panandang pangkasaysayan sa Lungsod ng Marawi, Lanao del Sur kanina, 18 Agosto 2024.

Pinasinayaan sa Lanao People's Park and Public Library ang mga panandang "Pagtatanggol sa Marawi" at "Labanan sa Marawi" sa pangunguna ni Tagapangulo Regalado Trota Jose, JR. ng NHCP, Punong Lalawigan Mamintal A. Adiong, Jr. ng Lanao del Sur, at Drieza Lininding, kinatawan ng mga kaanak ni Amai Pakpak.

Pinasinayaan naman sa Amai Pakpak Central Elementary School ang panandang "Amai Pakpak" sa pangunguna ni Tagapangulo Jose at Dr. Anna-Zenaida Unte, Superintendent ng Marawi City Schools Division, samantalang sa City Gymnasium sa Marawi City Hall ang "Kota Marawi" sa pangunguna nina Tagapangulo Jose at Punong Lungsod Atty. Majul U. Gandamra ng Lungsod ng Marawi.

Nagpaabot naman ng mga mensahe ang mga kinatawan mula sa Bangsamoro Transition Authority, Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Lanao del Sur, Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Marawi, Marawi Sultanate League, at mga kaanak ni Amai Pakpak.

Ang serye ng pagpapasinaya ng mga pananda ay bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Kasaysayan at ang ika-84 na anibersaryo ng pagiging lungsod ng Marawi.

Look 👀 | 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢, along with 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬, the curator of the Tourism Hub, held a meeting with Provincial Engineer 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐚 '𝐎𝐭𝐞' 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐉𝐫. and Provincial Information Officer 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨 at the conference room of the Provincial Engineer's office.

The meeting discussed the development of the provincial Tourism Hub, which will highlight the Marawi Siege.

On the last day of the workshop, we showcased the participants' beautiful artworks in an exhibit, followed by a special ceremony where everyone received their certificates. 🎨🏅

On the second day of the workshop, Master Artist 𝐄𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐃. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨 delved into the intricacies of watercolor painting in the morning session, guiding participants through various techniques and styles. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to acrylic painting, where attendees explored different methods and approaches under his expert instruction.

On the first day, participants learned about the history and importance of Okir in Maranao culture during a morning lecture. Master Artist 𝐄𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐃. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨 explained the basic elements of Okir, helping everyone understand its traditional designs and symbols. While in the afternoon, participants practiced their sketching skills on Okir patterns, using the knowledge they gained from the lecture.

In celebration of the 𝟲𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫, Tales of Marawi under MTIT-BARMM, in collaboration with Architect 𝐄𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐃. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨, a master Okir artist, will host a special painting workshop titled "𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐤𝐢𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬" on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟒-𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.

This workshop offers art enthusiasts and young artists a chance to explore the intricate world of Okir art, to learn fundamental techniques and styles while appreciating its cultural significance, and to enhance their artistic skills and creativity, guided by Architect 𝐄𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐃. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨.

The event aims to preserve and continue the tradition of Okir art by passing it to the next generation, ensuring its beauty and intricacy are celebrated for years to come.
