The month of September is dedicated to raising awareness about su***de, a time to commemorate the brave souls who lost their lives to su***de and honor the thousands of people who continue their battle with suicidal thoughts. It’s a month where we advocate for its prevention and open conversations about this pressing issue.

As humans, let us continue to inspire others with hope and kindness in every possible way, helping each of us survive our own mental battles. Cheer on one another and check in on each other’s wellbeing—you could save a life. Together, we can break the stigma, provide the help that is needed, and encourage the dialogue.

Remember, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. We are here for you, and help will always be available to give you HOPE.

You are loved, valued, and enough. Brighter days are up ahead.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 | 𝑷𝑺𝒀2𝒌: 𝑫𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑺 𝑻𝑶 𝑰𝑴𝑷𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑺

On August 30, 2024, the 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 (𝐏𝐒𝐘𝐌𝐒) held their annual acquaintance party with the theme “PSY2K: Dress to Impress” at Fahm Cafe, Heaven Road, Marawi City.

The PSYMS members wore their most stylish Y2K outfits, showcasing a variety of styles that highlighted the limitless creativity of the era and its bold representation of frantic consumption, carefreeness, and optimism.

The program was opened by Ms. Asmerah Sarip, the new PSYMS Adviser, who expressed her amazement and complimented the event’s program. She also spoke about psychology majors of MSU-Main that always strives for betterment.

To help members get formally acquainted with each other, members strutted down the runway —showcasing their outfits and introducing themselves to the society.

A batch performance competition among the three year levels—sophomores, freshmen, and juniors—was then held. The performances were judged, and the sophomores were declared the winners.

On the later part, the energy shifted to a more thrilling pace as members participated in the iconic “Household Chores Competition,” a traditional game of the society that has been passed down yearly.

As the program neared its end, the society presented tribute awards to the bench cheerers for their recent accomplishment as 1st Runner-ups. Winners of the previously held Salubong event were also acknowledged and received their promised prizes. Various awards for members’ Y2K outfits were also given, with winners chosen by a panel of judges.

Mr. Nawawie Malambut then delivered the closing remarks, expressing his gratitude to the society officers and members for the successful event.

𝐏𝐒𝐘𝐌𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 🔱 | CSSH Bench Cheering 1st Runner-Up

On the morning of August 27, 2024, the 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 held its semestral General Orientation and Assembly, attended by CSSH executives and faculty members from various departments. The theme for this year’s program was “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝑹𝒐𝒂𝒓: 𝑹𝒆𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝒏𝒆’𝒔 𝑨𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏,” and it took place at the International Convention Center, MSU-Main Campus, Marawi City.

One of the highlights of the event was the bench cheering competition among the college’s departments. The PSYMS team finished as the first runner-up this year, continuing their four-semester streak at the top that dates back to the academic year 2022-2023, echoing the aspirations of the PSYMS seniors that persist to this day.

𝐊𝐮𝐲𝐨𝐠 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐏𝐒𝐘𝐌𝐒 🔱 | Department General Orientation

To officially welcome the PSYMS Freshmen and the new academic year, the 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 held its semestral general orientation on the afternoon of August 27, 2024. The program was graced by faculty members and students of the department and was held at the International Convention Center, MSU-Main, Marawi City.

The program commenced with an address by the new department chairperson, Prof. Mary Jane Flores, who expressed her delight and excitement for the new school year. This was followed by a talk from Prof. Iman Alonto, who shared the history of the department and how it has evolved into what it is today. Important keynotes were also discussed, including the DPRS Rules and Regulations, with Prof. Nenita Magallanes emphasizing their importance and relevance to ensure that every psychology student has a smooth experience in the department.

The pride and glory of the DPRS lie in its ever-dashing and inspiring faculty members. To help the freshmen get acquainted with the department, Prof. Flores introduced each faculty member, providing a brief background on their work and interests.

As with any program, one of the most anticipated parts was the intermission number. The intermission was delivered by 1st Year Representative Daina Maranda, who gave a bone-chilling performance that further energized the event.

Life is an art, and we are our own life’s artists. Prof. Sharisse Matte Bara in her motivational speech, inspiring students by relating one's life to the story of Vincent Van Gogh. Her words offered a fresh perspective on facing life’s challenges and embracing one’s own uniqueness.

Later in the program, the Psychology Majors Society took their oath of office, pledging to lead with integrity, honesty, and commitment. This year, they aspire to be better than ever and deliver the most impactful programs to the Psych Majors, continuing the 'Bida Bida Legacy' of the previous administration.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Melany Maguindanao, who expressed her hopes for a bright future for everyone this semester.

𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐌𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 | BLEPP Passers of 2024

The 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒋𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 extends its warmest congratulations to 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐚 and alumni for passing the 2024 Board Licensure Exam for Psychologists and Psychometricians, 20 of the passers are first-time takers and 1 of them as a repeater of BLEPP.

The BLEPP was given last August 11-12, 2024, with a national passing rate of 68.79% and has a total of 10,717 takers whom 7,478 passed the exam.

The MSUan first-time takers had a passing rate of 83.33%, while the overall passing rate, including repeaters, was 72.41%. The MSU-Main Campus proudly presents 21 passers out of 29 examinees. This huge milestone that you have achieved is reflection of your dedication.

Earlier this day, the 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 warmly welcomed its incoming freshies with galvanic games 🎲 It was a day filled with joy and laughter as the event organized by Psych Seniors, the Batch Manawari, kicked off with exhilarating activities that launched the society into the school year.

Memories were made as Psychies laughed and bonded with one another, fostering unity and companionship through the fun challenges presented.

As we embark on this new school year, cherish every moment and look forward to more unforgettable and unkabogable experiences in the future.

You put yourself into your work, giving it a soul that resonates with the people you love.

Their creative endeavors celebrated the diverse rich cultures of Mindanao through captivating cinematography and unique storytelling, capturing the attention of the judging panel.

The Belleza Pageant is a national competition featuring representatives from state colleges across various regions in the country. This year, there were 11 pairs of participants competing.

Macaumbao was hailed as Ms. Congeniality and achieved 2nd Runner-up in the competition. Her wit, talent, and beauty captivated the audience and impressed the judges. Your remarkable effort and hard work are a true testament to your dedication in showcasing MSUan culture and intelligence.

Your performance will surely be remembered that will serve as an inspiring example of how determination and effort lead to well-deserved recognition. You are a great inspiration to us all and will forever be our Echo Queen, Shri.

On May 1, 2024, the Psychology Majors Society Officers conducted the first reading of the CBL Amendment Session at OSR, New Admin Bldg. as part of this administration's projects. The current CBL of the Society was last ratified on August 28, 2021 under former Society Head Ms. Hariza Abdulgaffur. With the current amendments, the Society hopes to reinforce and strengthen policies and orientations of PSYMS under the improved legal statements. The Society Officers deeply encourages the PSYMS Igsoons to embody the rulings of CBL for efficiency and productivity through the society's endeavors.

The Society extends its congratulations to 𝙈𝙤𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙙 𝙎𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙖 for qualifying as one of the Top 50 Finalist of the 𝗔𝗺𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 this coming June 2-11, 2024 at ACCM Hotel, AIM. Sidd is one of the competitive Top 30 aspirants who showed consistent dedication and skills throughout the series of applications and trainings in select of the finalists.

BLP strives to provide opportunity for college students to engage with CEO’s and leaders of 17+ AmCham member companies during a 10-day program of leadership talks, corporate visits, and networking events. Last year, Ms. Hannan Datu-Imam of JPIA MSU Main Chapter was the former finalist of the university.

This achievement extends the honor of our PSYMS Igsoons towards myriad of fields and expertise. We continue to bring pride not just to the society but to the whole institution at large. We are very proud of you, Sidd!

The Psychology Majors Society extends its felicitations to the excellent awardee of the 𝙂𝙀𝘼𝙍 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 2024, 𝘽𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚 𝘼𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙏. 𝘽𝙖𝙨 for being awarded with PolioPlus Society Recognition Award and Winner Exemplary Project Award in Basic Education and Literacy Awards for the Project Triple A: Custom Designed Coloring Books last May 11, 2024 held at Baguio City.

GEAR Awards is an annual national event that recognizes the exemplary performance of Rotaracts Clubs and Districts in the Philippines. Most known as the most prestigious Rotaract recognition-giving body in the country, the GEAR Awards is most certainly a highly anticipated event and has become part of the goal of every Rotaract club from across the nation.

Ms. Bas is also to receive the prestigious 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙡 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙨 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 in a separate event of Pilipinas Rotaract MDIO this coming June 2024. This is not the first time PSYMS has sent competitive representative as 𝙈𝙤𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙙 𝙎𝙞𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙖 (Batch Meraki) and 𝘼𝙨𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙖𝙝 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙖 (Batch Sinagtala) were also fomer Finalists of their batch last 2023 and 2022, respectively. This proves the consistent leadership and dedication being produced by PSYMS extending to national levels bringing pride not just to the society but to the whole MSU Community!

The Society also extends its congratulations to 𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙮𝙙𝙖 of SOLSS for being qualified for the same prestigious opportunity. Ms. Macaumbao and Ms. Cayda are the lone qualifiers from the campus. We are proud of you and best of luck forward!

The objectives of this activity are as follows: to assess the well-being and academic progress of the students; and to provide necessary support and guidance when necessary.

This session is designed specifically for you, as a first year student, to connect with your peers and receive the support and guidance you need to thrive in your academic journey. We understand that transitioning to college can be both exciting and challenging, and we want to ensure that you have all the resources and assistance necessary to make the most of your time here in our college. This will also allow you to build a strong support network within the college. We believe in the power of collaboration and the positive impact it can have on your college experience.
