Together, we prepared, cooked, and distributed 500 nutritious meals with the help of the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Abandoned, ensuring that the homeless and the PDLs of the Manila Police District Sta Ana Police Station received hearty, nourishing meals.

NGO gets surplus food from restaurants, hotels to feed the poor A non-government organization rescues surplus food donated by several businesses to feed poor communities everyday and lessen the food wasted in the country which may end up in landfills.

Last week, we joined the launch of Canva's ground floor space! The event was attended by other nonprofit companies and filled with insightful panel discussions on strategies for social impact.

A special highlight was the talk on going back to the etymology and core Filipino values which beautifully underscores the importance of community and compassion in our work.

SOS Philippines and LXFFI Join Forces to Combat Hunger

We're thrilled to announce a new partnership between Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Philippines and Loaves X Fish Foundation, Inc. (LXFFI) aimed at fighting food insecurity and promoting nutrition in marginalized communities.

SOS Philippines is dedicated to rescuing surplus food from various sources, ensuring it doesn't go to waste. Acting as a logistics partner, SOS picks up and delivers these quality ingredients to LXFFI. From there, LXFFI works its culinary magic, transforming the ingredients into hot, nutritious meals. These meals are then distributed to partner organizations, ensuring they reach those in need.

This collaboration not only reduces food waste but also ensures that nutritious meals are accessible to everyone. By working together, SOS Philippines and LXFFI are making a significant impact on the community!

We recently joined our second World Disco Soup Day 2024 at Lyceum of the Philippines University. It was organized by the Slow Food Youth Network Philippines and the university. The event aimed to combat food waste by using 1,213 kg of rescued food to prepare approximately 5,000 meals for the Puerta del Parian community in Intramuros, Manila.

The day included educational talks on food loss and waste and the role of food rescue by Scholars of Sustenance and sustainable cooking practices by the Slow Food Youth Network. The activities concluded with a dance celebration, emphasizing the community's commitment to sustainability.

The efforts not only provided meals but also reduced food waste, saving an estimated 3,000 kg of equivalent CO2 emissions. The event highlighted the importance of community involvement in achieving food security and environmental sustainability.
