Surgical excision of Irritation Fibroma under local anesthesia.

IRRITATION FIBROMA may be found on the buccal mucosa, lips, tongue, or labial mucosa as a single entity.

Often, patients are aware that they have traumatized the area multiple times. The patient’s chronic behavior often becomes a standard daily practice and may cause the fibroma to continue to increase in size.

Surgical removal of the growth is needed, and we should consider evaluating any chronic habits that the patient may exhibit. Chronic cheek chewing, lip chewing, or irritation, such as sharp edges of teeth, may lead to other fibromas. Fibromas are often easily determined by evaluating patients’ habits as patients are usually aware of their own behavior. However, the only true way to know the histology of the growth is to surgically remove it and view the tissue microscopically.

Surgical removal of an impacted supernumerary premolar on the right mandibular area.

Teeth removal may be necessary if you experience changes in the area of those teeth, such as:

Pain
Repeated infection of soft tissue
Possibility of Fluid-filled sacs (cysts) or tumors
Damage to nearby teeth
Gum disease
Extensive tooth decay

Visit your dentist and have your teeth checked. Don’t forget to have your routine dental radiographs. Without the radiographic examination, the patient won’t have known that she has an impacted supernumerary premolar in need of removal prior to orthodontic treatment.

Broken braces? Don't panic!

Here's a guide from the Association of Philippine Orthodontists to help you with emergency concerns about your braces.

• LOOSE BRACKETS, BUCCAL TUBES OR MOLAR BANDS
- If these are not attached to the arch wire anymore, clean with soap and water, dry, and keep until your next visit to your orthodontist. Loose brackets still hanging on the wire can be left untouched.

• LONG ARCH WIRE POKING ON THE PATIENT'S CHEEKS, CAUSING MOUTH SORES OR LIMITED FUNCTION
- Orthodontic wax or a clean piece of cotton can be placed at the end of the wire. In cases of severe pain or discomfort, a clean and disinfected cuticle cutter or nail clipper may be used to cut the excess arch wire.

• LOOSE & POOR FITTING RETAINERS
If your retainers are loose but still sits well, continue using them. III-fitting retainers that may cause sores should not be worn. Keep them in a cool, dry place and make sure to bring them on your next appointment.

So, don't worry! Your orthodontist will make sure to get your treatment back on track once the clinic reopens. Just contact them if you have any concerns and make sure that you follow their instructions such as practicing good oral hygiene and be careful of what and how you eat to avoid emergency situations during this time.

To our dear patients with ongoing orthodontic treatment, please read and don’t forget to keep safe.😷

27/03/2020

Dear patients,

The situation brought about by the COVID-19 disease stopped us from providing dentistry services because we do not have one-time use disposable gowns, and impermeable footwear which are part of the list of appropriate PPE for the prevention of viral spread and are most needed by our Frontliners. We are worried that it may take more weeks or months before the virus is controlled. COVID-19 cases are still rising and we don't want to add more to that. We can give online prescription for analgesic and antibiotic medications if necessary. That's the most we can do as of the moment. Please stay at home and stay healthy.

Due to the increase in number of positive COVID-19 cases, RA Dental Clinic is cancelling all appointments until further notice. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Will update you as soon as clinic operation resumes. Thank you and stay safe.

16/03/2020

In the midst of a pandemic, safety is of utmost priority. In this regard, please be informed of the following guidelines in relation to the provision of dental services:

1. Set an APPOINTMENT before coming to the clinic. Only patients with appointments will be entertained. This is to ensure that only a minimum number of people is inside the clinic at one time; hence, social distancing is exercised.

2. The dentist has the discretion to cancel/reschedule prior appointments to give way to patients with the most urgent need for dental attention. It is for this reason that those patients with non-emergency dental care are discouraged to book appointments during this time.

3. If you came or travelled from a high risk area/ community, please quarantine yourself for 14days as required by DOH.

These measures are undertaken for everyone’s safety. We are asking for your patience and understanding.

Please be assured that we are abiding by the PDA’s guidelines regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), proper sterilization and disinfection.

Renew your smile with Removable Partial Dentures.😀

What to expect:
In the beginning, your new partial denture may feel awkward or bulky. This is normal, and you will eventually become accustomed to wearing it.

Inserting and removing the partial denture will require some practice.

Follow all instructions given by your dentist. Your denture should fit into place with relative ease. Never force the partial denture into position by biting down. This could bend or break the clasps.

Your dentist will give you specific instruction about how long the denture should be worn and when it should be removed.

Initially, you may be asked to wear your partial denture all the time. Although this may be uncomfortable at first, it's the quickest way to identify areas that may need adjustment.

If the denture puts too much pressure on a particular area, that spot will become sore. Your dentist will adjust the partial denture to fit more comfortably. After making adjustments, your dentist will probably recommend that you take the partial denture out of your mouth before going to bed and replace it in the morning.

Eating should become a more pleasant experience with dentures. Start out by eating soft foods that are cut into small pieces. Chew on both sides of the mouth to keep even pressure on both sides. Avoid foods that are extremely sticky or hard. You may want to avoid chewing gum during the adjustment period.

Partial denture can also help improve your speech. If you find it difficult to pronounce certain words, practice reading out loud. Repeat the words that give you trouble. With time, you will become accustomed to speaking properly with your partial denture.
