Watch highlights of the event as the 585 probationary midshipmen and midshipwomen of Class 2028, possibly the biggest class that entered the hollowed grounds of this Academy, undergo the Reception Rites administered to test their physical, mental, and emotional strength as their first ever challenge.

This first phase describes a rigorous and semi-regimental training program aimed at transforming the probationary midshipmen into official midshipmen and women. Over 32 days, the probationary midshipmen will undergo a process called the Indoctrination/Orientation Program (IOP), which will strip them of their civilian mannerisms, signifying their transition and readiness for their new roles as future maritime officers.

Let us look forward to seeing the Class of 2028 in their summer white uniforms on their Incorporation Day!

FROM ONE DAY, TO DAY ONE. Monday, Yesterday, 03 July 2023, the Class of 2027 entered the hallowed grounds of the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific for their Reception Rites which marks the start of the development of new future maritime leaders and officers. Witness as they undergo semi-regimental training and confirmation processes as they transform into Probationary Midshipmen of the Academy.

The Reception Rites heralds the beginning of the Indoctrination/Orientation Program (IOP), which will test their physical, mental, and emotional strength, as the training strips their civilian mannerisms and instills discipline upon them in their transformation as midshipmen of the Academy. Simultaneously, the probationary midshipmen undergo the Academic RAMP Program, which includes refresher courses on Math and English.

Should they successfully persevere through the challenges of the training, they shall then be officially incorporated into the Midshipman Fleet of the Academy as fourthclass midshipmen, on their Incorporation Ceremony after IOP.

Welcome aboard, Class of 2027! Embrace the winds of change as MAAP trains you into becoming future global maritime professionals.
