Words are nothing without actions.
We, the English Club Officers are asking everyone to be aware of what's happening around us, as our beloved planet starts to get worse, we encourage everyone to help the Planet Earth in this crisis that we are facing.
Here’s some ways to help our planet earth:
-Conserving water saves energy. Energy is needed to filter, heat and pump water to your home, so reducing your water use also reduces your carbon footprint. Using less water keeps more in our ecosystems and helps to keep wetland habitats topped up for animals like otters, water voles, herons and fish.
-Reduce plastic consumption.
Preventing pollution by lessening the amount of new raw materials used. Saves energy. Reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute towards climate change.
-Unplug Unused Devices.
A large majority of the energy that powers our homes comes from fossil fuels, so unplugging (as in taking a break from electronic devices) reduces your energy demand and carbon emissions.
-Recycle and Reuse.
Reducing, reusing and recycling waste helps save landfill space by keeping useful materials out. The amount of energy and natural resources needed to produce or collect the raw materials and manufacture the product are reduced.
-Stop Incineration of Waste.
Burning household garbage in burn barrels, stoves, and fire pits creates pollution that's dangerous to human health and contaminates the air, water, and soil.
-Use bike instead of vehicle.
The longer you use your bike, the better for the planet. Riding a bike also reduces traffic congestion. Idling cars are bad for the environment, so less cars on the road means a healthier community. Someone riding a bike can go 960 miles on the amount of energy that goes into moving a car 20 miles.
-Plant more Trees.
Trees hold water, prevent flooding, recharge underground aquifers, and maintain water v***r in the atmosphere, increasing the opportunity for rainfall. When forests are cut down, the water v***r in the atmosphere disappears in an area, decreasing precipitation and increasing the risk of drought and desertification.

According to DOH, the country has so far confirmed 3,270,758 cases of COVID-19, which include 2,933,338 recoveries and 52,962 deaths.
Of the 28,471 additional cases, 97 percent occurred within the recent 14 days. The top regions with the newest cases in the recent two weeks were Metro Manila (9,887 or 36 percent), Calabarzon (6,671 or 24 percent), and Central Luzon (2,970 or 11 percent).

Think about the consequences.
It doesn’t just affect your life.
It affects everyone.
Metro Manila, and the neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and Laguna were placed under Alert Level 3 on the five-tier alert level system of community quarantine until Jan. 15.
Also under Alert Level 3 are the provinces of Bataan, Batangas, Cagayan, Pampanga and Zambales; and the cities of Baguio, Dagupan, Santiago, Angeles, Olangapo, Lucena, Naga, Iloilo and Lapu-Lapu.
In areas under Alert Level 3, face-to-face classes are prohibited in kinder, elementary and high school, while limited in-person classes are allowed for colleges and technical-vocational schools.
The Department of Education (DepEd) earlier said the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes in areas under Alert Levels 1 and 2 would continue, as long as local governments and stakeholders support the program.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said the agency would postpone its plans to expand in-person classes — particularly in Metro Manila — with more schools participating.
The Department of Health asked DepEd to wait for its assessment on Jan. 15, when the government would decide the next alert level for different areas in the country.
Brief History of the English language.
THE DEPARTMENT of Education supports the campaign promoting antimicrobial stewardship, especially amid the threat of Covid19.
Antimicrobial stewardship is defined as a coherent set of actions that promote the responsible use of antimicrobials, applied at the individual, national and global levels, according to the World Health Organization.
“Let us always follow the right dosage, selection, wordand the number of antimicrobials as prescribed by educated experts to advance stewardship on antimicrobials,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said.
Bureau of Learning Delivery Director Leila Ar**la highlighted that AMR has a direct impact on learners as they are more susceptible to infections caused by different strains of bacteria due to their age.
“We’ve been identifying entry points in the [school] curricula for possible integration in classroom discussion and activities, eventually in reaching our teaching and learning resources and materials. We’re putting premium to this action because the proper education of our youth will certainly provide significant impact in solving this concern,” Ar**la said.
Department of Health Program Manager to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance Johanna Mallari said teachers play an important role in strategizing effectively to help students in shaping their ideas and developing attitudes towards the prudent use of antibiotics.
“There is a need for urgent action and that includes educating our public and private care professionals on the proper or correct use of antibiotics to secure long-term availability of antibiotic treatments,” Mallari stressed.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 265 new COVID-19 deaths to bring the total number of mortalities to 52,135 in the country.
The total number of deaths is 1.78 percent of all cases.
Of the 265 deaths, only 15 occurred this January, according to DOH.

Four were reported in December 2020, five in November, five in October 2020, one in September 2020, one in August and one in July.
The backlogs were due to the late encoding of death information to DOH’s system.
“This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date,” the Health Department said.
The DOH also reported 26,458 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number of infections to 2,936,875.
Saturday’s caseload is the highest since September 11 last year, when the country reported 26,303 cases.
The active cases in the country are now at 102,017 but 95.5 percent of them are only mild or without symptoms.
The DOH said 99 percent of the new cases were recorded within the 14-day period of December 26-January 8.
The positivity rate is now at 43.7 percent.
