Grateful for all the donations and efforts of donors to rebuild the previously standing structure in this site, the community of Capiz warmly celebrates the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Shrine prior to its full completion.

A hilltop house by

The simplicity of lines within the structure attempts to create an organized rhythm evoking a feeling of order and calmness. A juxtaposition between the built against the natural environment allows the spaces to become seamless and undefined.

The extensive use of natural wood and stone on the internal and external spaces was a feature that was specifically considered within the project, showcasing each species most natural character and color. This design approach embraces the beauty of each material allowing it to create a harmonious atmosphere.

Interior pocket spaces within the DL House enables the external elements into the house. It also allows the living spaces to breathe and bathe in natural light while maintaining spaces at human scale and proportion.

This passive house uses natural wood latticework for its façade. Combined with a ventilated courtyard, this smart home maintains comfortable interior air quality throughout the day.

Working on finishing the Sacred Heart of Jesus Shrine in Capiz, the architectural form of of the roof structure exposes the bare structural bones of the Shrine in its most basic form. It acts as a series of gutters spaced from one another bringing in light into the internal space.

Reflective of the family’s industrial barn house is a suburban home with many perpendicular volumes to provide pocket spaces for scattered art, collections, and to introduce a series of outdoor connection to the private spaces, while respecting their ingenius to craft-making by incorporating traditional yet timeless materials such as pebble washed concrete walls, metal and steel works, birch ply, and glass. A fun exploration to client-architect collaboration to introduce some unique and personal kinetic and mechanical art works within the architecture would greatly benefit the project.

As the house is facing SW, it is significant to make use of ventilated facade design to improve on the building’s energy efficiency. Not only does the house benefit from a unique building facade, but it allows for additional acoustical barrier, enhances indoor environment, added air cavity and prevents the rooms from over-heating.

Dubbed as “Awan-Awan” in the studio, we were asked to develop a new concept of hospitality in one of the islands of the west of Philippines. The mountainside villas follows a complex terrain with beautiful views of the shore and ocean, remained simple with restrained lines offering modest silhuoette to its immediate environment.

The Studio introduced the element of hand-made bright red bricks to the space, a nostalgic material also knows as “tisa” in traditional Filipino houses and historical buildings. Complimented with a play of light, it warms up the interiors and enhances the forms, scale and textures of the physical space.

The new flagship store resembles familiar spaces that can be found in traditional Filipino houses from its entry foyer, living and dining spaces, and flexible kitchen and working areas. It invites the visitors into an open space slightly blurring the definitions of an appliance store and a lifestyle boutique. It merges multiple textures in one space: from the smooth and seamless lines of the appliances, to the robust textures of wood, concrete and red bricks.
