2. **Emergency Kit:** Prepare a disaster supply kit that includes:
- Non-perishable food and water (at least one gallon per person per day for three days)
- Flashlights and batteries
- First aid supplies
- Medications and personal hygiene products
- Important documents (ID, insurance, medical records) in a waterproof container
3. **Secure Your Home:**
- Reinforce windows and doors. Use plywood or storm shutters.
- Clear gutters and downspouts to prevent flooding.
- Bring in or secure outdoor furniture and decorations.
4. **Plan for Evacuations:**
- Know your evacuation routes and have a plan in place for where to go.
- Arrange for transportation if needed, and consider places where you can stay with pets if necessary.
5. **Communication Plan:**
- Set up a communication plan with family and friends to ensure everyone knows how to reach one another.
6. **Stay Indoors:** During the typhoon, stay away from windows and doors. If possible, relocate to a small, windowless interior room or a basement.
7. **Power Outages:** Have backup charging devices for your phones and a battery-operated radio to stay updated on information.
8. **Know Your Risks:** Understand the specific risks in your area, such as flooding, landslides, or storm surges, and be prepared to act accordingly.
9. **Follow Authorities' Instructions:** Always heed the advice of local officials and evacuate if ordered to do so.
10. **Post-Typhoon Safety:** After the storm, stay vigilant about hazards like downed power lines, damaged buildings, or contaminated water.
Being prepared can help keep you and your loved ones safe during a typhoon. Stay safe everyone!
