Empowering communication through Basic Sign Language Training. Our dedicated Misamis University Social Work interns, assigned to City Social Welfare and Development in Oroquieta City, actively participated in this transformative program at the City Health Office and OCCES Hall from October 23-26, 2023.
During the three days training, the interns delved into essential aspects of sign language, mastering fundamental gestures, expressions, and communication nuances. This immersive experience not only honed their proficiency but also heightened awareness of the deaf community's unique communication needs. Through interactive sessions and real-life scenarios, they cultivated practical skills that will undoubtedly contribute to fostering a more inclusive and empathetic society.
The interns extend heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated trainers, Ms. Liza M. Padogdog, Ms. Daisy B. Apos and Ms. Glezen B. Capeding, who facilitated the Basic Sign Language Training. Their expertise, patience, and commitment played a pivotal role in shaping our understanding and fluency in sign language. Special thanks to all participants for their enthusiasm and engagement, fostering a positive and collaborative learning environment. This training has not only equipped us with valuable skills but has also ignited a passion for promoting inclusivity and bridging communication gaps. This training will not be possible without the hard work and perseverance of the PWD Focal Person, Mrs. Julie Ann Espaรฑol in putting this training into success.

Conol and Mr. Sanjeeve G. Tan. They have generously shared their time, effort, knowledge, and expertise, paving the way for our interns to make a difference in the lives of these children.
The interns also extend their warmest thanks and appreciation to the very active and supportive school principal, Mr. Eugenio C. Bucog, Mrs. Marestelle M. Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders: A Glimpse into the Successful Youth Orientation held at Barangay Villaflor, Oroquieta City on October 14, 2023, facilitated by the dedicated Social Work Interns of Misamis University, assigned to the City Social Welfare and Development Office in Oroquieta City.
In a small corner of Oroquieta City, a group of passionate and driven social work interns embarked on a journey to shape the future. With a shared commitment to fostering personal and community growth, they organized a Youth Orientation program that left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of out-of-school youths aged 16-25 in Brgy Villaflor.
The interns' energy and enthusiasm were infectious, creating an environment where curiosity and ambition thrived. Through their tireless efforts, they not only provided guidance but also instilled a sense of purpose in the young participants, encouraging them to dream big and reach for the stars.
The event served as a testament to the power of collaboration and community support. It was not just the interns who made this a success, but also with the support of our field instructor, Mrs. Marjorie T. Cartajenas, under the guidance of the CSWD Office Head, Mrs. Letecia G. Jabla, and with the unwavering support of our field supervisor, also the focal person of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP), Ms. Rose Ann J. Ongcoy, and from local leaders, parents, and the youth themselves, who eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn, grow, and aspire to achieve more. The spirit of unity was palpable, serving as a reminder that positive change can happen when a community comes together with a shared vision.
The impact of this day will continue to resonate in the lives of the youth who attended, propelling them forward on their paths to success and making Oroquieta City's future even brighter.

We would like to ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ the fourth-year social work interns assigned at City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) for successfully conducting their first session of their groupwork process at Calabayan, Ozamiz City, today, October 14, 2023!๐โบ๏ธ
The social work interns created this practice as an ordered, methodical manner of working with people in groups, with the constant support and guidance of their field instructor, ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ฃ๐๐ง๐๐ฌ, and their agency field supervisor, ๐๐ซ๐ฌ. ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฆ ๐. ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐จ. As with their target participants, they have chosen youths aged 15 to 25 years old who are not attending school, have not completed a course, or are not working.
Through involvement in a social process, individuals are assisted in learning new ideas, developing skills, and changing their attitudes and responsibilities. As future social workers, they are taught how to organize groups and teach individuals how to live, work, and participate in group activities for intellectual and physical growth and to broaden their perspectives. In keeping with our interns' tireless efforts, this simply indicates that they are capable of being more of themselves by realizing their full potential as excellent social workers in the making.

We would like to congratulate the 3rd year social work students for successfully conducting a seminar on online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. This issue has become a global concern. Children who have experienced being forced to perform sexual acts online or being blackmailed for sexual purposes, hundreds of millions of child sexual abuse materials are also shared and traded on the internet. This needs to stop, for every child deserves an environment where they can enjoy themselves, be safe, and be free. To all social work students who attended, may you also be the voice of the children who need help.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Marylou L. Aniรฑon for sharing her knowledge and experiences that truly touch the hearts of every student. We would also like to thank all social work students for lending their time and ears. Always remember that "๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐พ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐พ๐ ๐๐๐บ๐ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐พ ๐๐๐พ๐บ๐๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐พ๐๐." -๐ฉ๐บ๐๐๐บ ๐ข๐บ๐ผ๐๐๐
