Foot drop
This is the inability of a person to lift h the front part of the foot. The foot is in plantar flexion position and dorsiflexion of the foot is always impossible for such patients. In foot drop drop the tibialis anterior muscle is very weak, leading to a fixed ankle dorsiflexion. This could be due to an injury to the common peroneal nerve which innervates the muscle in question (Tibialis anterior)
As exercises are so crucial to rehabilitate the foot for strength, electrical stimulation will be an essential protocol to re-educate the muscle to cause dorsiflexion. There is a special way pads of the electrodes of the TENS machine is done.
