The Bureau of Customs (BOC) increased its anti-smuggling campaign in the first quarter of 2023, filing 65 criminal complaints with the Department of Justice. The majority of these complaints, 49 in total, involve agricultural products, with the remaining complaints involving fuel, food, ci******es, general merchandise, and used clothing.

As Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized during the recent Port of Iloilo Stakeholders' Night, the Bureau of Customs recognizes the importance of engaging with private stakeholders to strengthen customs procedures and improve the Bureau's operations.

"We cannot exist in a vacuum, and your support is crucial in helping us achieve our mandates. Together, we can create a more efficient and effective customs system."

Mas pinapalakas ng pamahalaan ang kampanya nito kontra smuggling at iba pang ilegal na gawain sa pagsasanib-puwersa ng Bureau of Customs PH at iba pang law enforcement agencies.

Kabilang sa mga bagong nakamit ng kampanya ang pagsamsam sa mga smuggled smart televisions at computer sets na may kabuuang halaga na Php 20 milyon sa isang warehouse sa Bulacan.

Ayon sa BOC, nakatuon din ang pamahalaan sa mas mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng Republic Act No. 10863 o ang Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) na nilagdaan noong 2016.
