ADVISORY

In order to allow learners to complete pending assignments, projects, and other requirements as the end of school year is fast-approaching, all public schools nationwide shall implement ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES/DISTANCE LEARNING on April 15-16, 2024.

Likewise, teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools shall not be required to report to their respective stations.

However, activities organized by Regional and Schools Division Offices, such as Regional Athletic Association Meets and other division or school level programs, to be conducted on the aforementioned dates may push through as scheduled.

Finally, private schools shall not be covered by this advisory but shall have the option to implement the same.

Ano nga ba ang Holy Day of Obligation?

Ito ay ang mga natatanging araw na idineklara ng Simbahang Katolika na dapat bigyang paggalang katulad ng sa araw ng Linggo dahil bahagi ito ng dakilang pagliligtas ng Diyos sa sangkatauhan sa pmamagitan ni Kristo at ng mga Banal. Sa mga araw na ito, ang lahat ng mga binyagang Katoliko ay inaasahang dumalo sa mga banal na Misa ayon sa Canon Law No. 1247 "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass".

Ayon pa sa Catechism of the Catholic Church No. 2185 "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are to refrain from engaging in work or activities that hinder the worship owed to God, the joy proper to the Lord's Day, the performance of the works of mercy, and the appropriate relaxation of mind and body."

Sa Pilipinas, mayroong tatlong (3) Holy Days of Obligation. Ito ay ang:
1. Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8),
2. Pasko ng Pagsilang (December 25), at
3. Maria, Ina ng Diyos (January 1).

Ang ibang Holy Days of Obligation ng Simbahang Katolika, sa basbas ng Roma (Canon Law No. 1256,1) ay minabuting ilipat ng Kalupunan ng mga Katolikong Obispo sa Pilipinas (CBCP) sa pinakamalapit na Araw ng Linggo. Ito ay ng Epiphany, Ascension, at Corpus Christi.

Mapalad ang mga Katolikong Pilipino dahil kamakailan lamang noong December 28, 2017, isinabatas ng Pamahalaan ng Republika ng Pilipinas na gawin nang isang Non-working Holiday ang December 8 ng bawat taon upang lalong maipagdiwang ang Kapistahan ng Inmaculada Concepcion.
