Art Anton values art as a human expression; a way of communicating and moving people to understand a particular subject;
‘Echoes of Silence: Guardians of Untamed’ does give viewers a different perspective on common political ideas. In a way, Otto Neri’s exploration of colonialism, violence, and beauty provocatively slices through the core ideas hidden in the veneer of style.

Charge! reimagines a famous Napoleon Bonaparte war scene. His armies are replaced by no other than Neri’s own pet dogs with gun heads, charging into battle, while Napoleon himself is represented as a white King chess piece, symbolizing strategy, leadership, and the inevitability of conflict.
“Inspired by Jean-Baptiste Édouard Detaille's 'Vive L'Empereur!', I reimagined Napoleon Bonaparte with a white chess king head, leading my four loyal companions: Brandy and Tequila (Belgian Malinois), Lukas (Doberman), and Whiskey (my late pocket American Bully). Set against the breathtaking sunrise over Taal Lake, this painting reflects our personal battles - crossing new territories, stepping out of comfort zones, and conquering tears with those we trust.
The scene also brings to life a story shared with me by Manong Tony Boy Escalante about riding horses along Tagaytay's ridge 20 years ago with friends, experiencing camaraderie amidst the stunning views of the volcano after their rides. This blend of personal reflection and vivid memory became, Charge!”

The figure of a woman stands elegantly in a black dress, her head replaced by a pink rose—a symbol of beauty, femininity, and delicate strength.
Beside her is a powerful Great Dane, its head depicted as a revolver, merging loyalty with protection. Against a lush green landscape and a horizon of dark mountains under a serene, subdued color sky, the pair embody a deep, instinctual need: the pursuit of security as a foundation for beauty and confidence.
The inspiration behind this piece arises from an often-misunderstood question: Why do women prioritize comfort and stability? For me, it’s not simply a matter of convenience or luxury.
It’s a subconscious, evolutionary instinct, a search for the security needed to protect and nurture what they hold dear. The pink rose reveals beauty, femininity, and an openness to the world, while the Great Dane with its revolver head speaks to the assurance, resilience, and stability required to defend this beauty.
In Beautifully Secure, security isn’t merely material but rather a profound state of mind—one that allows women to fully embrace their lives and bloom.

Poised between strategy and survival, The Huntress rides forward—embodying the duality of power and grace. Otto Neri’s Queen chess piece astried a horse evokes a silent, yet commanding presence, where every move carries the weight of both vulnerability and strength.
In Otto Neri’s “The Huntress”, the queen chess piece poised on horseback, clutching a bird, serves as a striking metaphor for the balance of strength and sensitivity. The queen embodies strategic prowess and command, navigating the complexities of life like a masterful player on a chessboard. The bird, delicate yet significant, symbolizes freedom and foresight, suggesting that true power encompasses not just force but also the ability to perceive beyond the immediate. Together, they illustrate the archetype of the huntress—fierce yet aware, commanding yet compassionate. Neri’s work challenges us to embrace the multifaceted nature of leadership, where the strength is not only in commanding the field but also in embracing the wisdom of vision and the harmony of the mind and spirit.

‘Guardians and Defenders’ by
The second piece from Otto Neri’s current exhibition, ‘Echoes of Silence: Guardians of Untamed’
This black-and-white piece highlights the BRP Sierra Madre, stationed in Ayungin Shoal, a symbol of resilience in our territorial waters. “Atop the Sierra Madre, I placed a Rook chess piece, representing a fortress, crowned by Lapu-Lapu—the first hero to resist and defeat foreign invaders. Indigenous warriors onboard stand as symbols of our continued presence, while Chinese dragon boats circle ominously, threatening our sovereignty. The waves show how Chinese activities disturb marine life and the livelihoods of our fishermen. The black-and-white palette echoes the documentary nature of this conflict, as seen in media—news, TV, radio, and the internet—highlighting the ongoing aggression in our territories. By stripping away color, I aim to bring focus to the substance of the message and the urgency of the situation.”

Art Anton is honored to present the works of Thai artist Rattapoom ‘Vern’ Piwpantamit. Vern’s work delicately navigates the transient nature of human existence, encapsulating the impermanence of life’s journey from birth to death. Through a meditative exploration of form and concept, these pieces invite a deeper contemplation on the values that anchor our being—friendship, love, and sacrifice—set against the inevitable backdrop of decay and departure. Each work serves as a visual elegy, encouraging mindfulness and equanimity as we confront the fragility of existence, offering an invitation to perceive life and its end with equal reverence.

These paintings by , when seen together, create a deeply immersive and haunting experience. They evoke a world that is both enigmatic and surreal, where the boundaries between the tangible and the imaginary dissolve. The works seem to belong to the same mysterious realm, one that is filled with ancient echoes and a sense of timelessness. The dark, muted tones and intricate details Castillo employs give life to a landscape that feels both familiar and alien, inviting the viewer to explore a narrative that is rich with symbolism and ambiguity.
The connection between the two paintings is profound, as they complement each other in tone and theme, suggesting a shared story that unfolds across both canvases. This story, however, is not linear or overt; instead, it is one that the viewer must piece together, guided by the subtle cues and atmospheric elements that Castillo masterfully integrates. The figures, landscapes, and architectural forms all seem to be part of a larger mythos, one that hints at themes of power, transformation, and the unknown.
What makes these works particularly compelling is their ability to evoke a strong emotional response without being overly explicit. Castillo leaves much to the imagination, allowing the viewer to bring their own interpretations and feelings into the experience. This openness makes the paintings not just objects to be viewed, but experiences to be felt and pondered. The dialogue between the two works enhances this effect, as they seem to converse with each other, deepening the sense of mystery and inviting the viewer to linger and reflect.

This exhibition skillfully blends the bright, bold colors of pop art with the sharp detail of hyper-realism, creating scenes where innocence and unease are delicately balanced. These textile artworks by delve into complex themes of perception, identity, and the mystical or spiritual nature of existence.
The faces, adorned with multiple eyes, symbolize an ability to see from different perspectives or to perceive hidden truths. This relates to the idea of self-awareness, where the individual is not just observing the world but also gaining insight into their inner self. The repetition of eyes also hints at the concept of omniscience or a heightened spiritual state.
The surrounding patterns, with their detailed and symmetrical designs, evoke a sense of ritual or sacredness, placing these beings within a larger cosmic order. The intricate craftsmanship of the textiles, with their layers of fabric and thread, emphasizes the complexity of these ideas, where each element is carefully woven into a coherent whole. This layering represents the many layers of reality or consciousness that the artworks invite the viewer to explore.
By placing these works together, Jan Sunday encourages the viewer to consider the multiplicity within the self—the idea that our identity is not singular but composed of various facets, each with its own perspective and understanding. The artworks speak to the notion that understanding oneself and the world requires looking through multiple lenses, each offering a different insight into the nature of existence.
