As we celebrate National Oral Health Month this February, O-HI-DOC will continue to provide dental online consultation to different areas in CaLaBaRZon. We will resort to TeleDentistry online consultation, Oral Health Unit - DOH CHD Calabarzon via FB page. “Go Caries Free CaLaBaRZon: Creating Miles of Smiles”.

This video was created for DepEd during the Nationwide Simultaneous Inauguration of School Medical and Dental Clinics and Launch of School Dental Health Care Program conducted by the Bureau of Learners Support Services-School Health Division.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CALABARZON Oral Health Unit will conduct TeleDentistry to provide oral health consultation services to CaLaBaRZon communities especially to GIDA/IP Areas through the utilization of telemedicine platform. Likewise, the Oral Health Unit will use similar platform of the CaLaBaRZon Telemedicine to provide oral health need to our hard to reach/far-flung areas as well as those in need of oral health emergencies.
The project shall be titled “O-HI-DOC” which stands for Oral Health Initiative for Dental Online Consultation. The project will provide free oral/dental consultations through a social dental application. The Center for Health Development CaLaBaRZon will make use of the teledentistry platform that aims to provide direct and immediate access to oral health consultation services using the social media and in line with DOH Circular # 2020-0016, Guidelines on the Use of Telemedicine in COVID-19 Response. It shall also be executed in adherence to related laws and policies including but not limited to Republic Act 10173, Data Privacy Act of 2012 of the Philippines and the FDA Circular No. 2020-007, Guidelines in the Implementation of the Use of Electronic Means of Prescription for Drugs for the Benefit of Individuals Vulnerable to COVID-19.

As the saying goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Looking at the World Health Organization's (WHO) "Five Moments of Hand Hygiene in Dentistry advocates the need to improve and sustain hand hygiene practices of dentists and other dental staff at the right times and in the right way to help reduce the spread of potentially life-threatening infections in the dental facilities.
The underlying concept is the need for all dental health-care providers (DHCP) to perform hand hygiene at specific times in patient care. During these times, the three points of contact merge. Points of contact consist of the patient, the dental health-care worker, and treatment involving contact with the patient and his or her surroundings (within what is called the patient zone). There is a real need to improve our response by applying hand hygiene to these points of contact.
