Because we know you’re a good fit, skill-wise

And if you showed good character during interview

We consider you’re a good fit as an overall candidate.

But nobody can train someone’s attitude.

It’s our own doing.

Let’s be more responsible.

It’s hard to find jobs nowadays.

There are a lot of people who are still unemployed

And if you’re currently working with a client

Please don’t waste the opportunity in front of you.

Do not go MIA.

It’s better to over-communicate

- Every morning ba nila sila nagpo-post? Hapon ba nila? How often do they show up on LinkedIn? Isa sa umaga then sa gabi ba? Kaya mo rin ba sila sabayan sa schedule nila?

Does the law of attraction really work?

When asked this question, I suggest we explore the alternative.

Say let’s begin with the view of a skeptic and accept that the law of attraction doesn’t work.

So what's next?

Do you stop dreaming and setting goals for yourself?

Of course not!

You continue to work for it. You set a goal that probably takes a year or more, break it down into smaller 90-day projects and then work on those weekly to success.

With enough perseverance and tenacity, (and of course refusing to quit), you get to achieve those goals in due time.

In other words, you still end up attracting the success you wanted by simply keeping it top of mind.

With that, I think it’s really not that important to ask whether the law of attraction is real or not.

The more significant and impactful activity is having dreams and pursuing them tenaciously.

😮‍💨 Whew! I survived my first in-house flood experience from Typhoon Carina (Typhoon Gaemi)!

Those 2-3 days living in the 2nd floor, without electricity, food, clean and drinking water (plus toilet)

While the flood keeps rising and creeping in your first floor, was a traumatic experience for me.

I wasn't home when Typhoon Ondoy (Typhoon Ketsana - the most devastating tropical cyclone that hit Manila in September 2009) happened

So this was my first taste.

But, life goes on, and with that tragedy is a need to look for a better and flood-free place to stay.

If you have moved places before, you know how expensive it can get

Not just for paying the advance and deposit

But also hiring movers and of course, the repairs of damaged appliances and other personal belongings.

I so appreciate friends, family, and kind strangers who didn't fail to check-in on me, and my brother with his 8 pets who live just beside my apartment.

We had such a great conversation that what was supposed to be a 15-minute call turned into something much longer.

I thought, “Wow, this is going great!”

We exchanged a few emails about the project scope, and everything seemed set.

I put together a detailed strategy document, including the budget we discussed, which was well within his range.

But then, out of the blue, he emailed me saying he wouldn’t be moving forward.

No explanation, nothing.

I tried reaching out a couple of times to understand why, but no response.

Now, here’s the kicker. This client is a business coach, someone who teaches others about professionalism and leadership.

But during our call, his camera was so poorly positioned that I could barely see him. First impressions matter, especially in his field.

Here’s what I learned from this experience:

For Clients:

✅ Honest Feedback: If you decide not to proceed, just be upfront about why. It helps us freelancers learn and grow.

✅ Stick to Your Word: If you say you are the sole decision maker, make a commitment, and stand by it. Don’t change your mind after another team discussion, especially if your team member wasn't on the call.

✅ Clear Communication: Let us know why you’re backing out. It saves us from wondering what went wrong.

✅ Professional Presence: Showing up well on camera is crucial. As a business coach, make sure you’re well-lit and properly framed on video calls.

For Freelancers:

✅ Confirm Details: Make sure everything is final on the call, including the start date.

✅ Service Agreement: Have your agreement ready and send it immediately after the call.

✅ Upfront Fee: If it feels right, take an upfront fee on the call or send the initial invoice with the agreement.

Remember, we’re not just exchanging currency; we’re exchanging value and, most importantly, time.

That call ran over because of all the positive feedback and compliments, which made me feel it was going somewhere.

Once you make a verbal agreement, put it in writing to make it official. Breaking your word and not giving feedback is unprofessional, regardless of your role or experience.

Let’s aim for better communication and professionalism in all our business dealings, shall we?
