Exercise Is Medicine (EIM) - Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity 14/09/2024

Growing concerns about Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) driving up the number of deaths led to the birth of Exercise Is Medicine (EIM) in the Philippines.

EIM made its debut on September 7, 2013, at the annual PASOO convention held at the Edsa Shangri-La hotel. Dr. Rodolfo Florentino, the Task Force Chair of EIM Philippines, led the launch event. It concluded with a symbolic signing of the EIM Commitment Wall, where representatives from 14 esteemed organizations became founding members of EIM Philippines.

In the Philippines, the EIM program focuses on training doctors, fitness professionals, and allied health professionals to prescribe exercise to their patients. This helps promote physical activity, healthier lifestyles, and disease prevention.
