(QUEZON CITY) Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte demonstrated her support for environmental initiatives by attending the premiere screening of “A Thousand Forests,” an environment-themed musical film produced by I.Syoot Multimedia Production in partnership with the University of the Philippines Los Baños – College of Forestry and Natural Resources.

The premiere screening coincided with Arbor Day, celebrating Republic Act No. 10176, which mandates its annual observance every 25th June. The film underscores the significance of forests in addressing climate change.

“I would like to congratulate everyone behind this film. It’s about time that we came out with an advocacy film like this. . . I hope everybody encourages their friends to watch the film, patronize it, and share its lovely messages. We all know that our planet is at risk, suffering, and if we don’t step up, unite, and work collectively toward salvaging our planet, we will not have a planet to pass on to our children,” declared Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Starting June 26, 2024, the film will be screened in cinemas nationwide, including SM Cinemas, Ayala Mall Cinemas, Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, Vista, Gateway, Fishermall, and Rockwell Power Plant Cinema.

“The Arbor Day Act of 2012 requires every able-bodied Filipino, aged 12 and above, to plant one tree each year. Had this been consistently followed, we would have planted 867 million trees from 2012 to 2023,” said Jenie Chan, executive director of I.Syoot Multimedia, a company dedicated to advocacy communications.

“Our vision is to cultivate a thousand forests with the help of various stakeholders. By 2050, we aspire to plant two million hectares of forests,” stated Marlo Mendoza, Dean of UPLB-CFNR.
This multi-sectoral program, designed by UPLB-CFNR and supported by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), is co-founded by I.Syoot Multimedia.

The film “A Thousand Forests” is the first phase of a nationwide initiative to create a collaborative and impactful greening program.

“Today’s youth will face the severe consequences of climate change. This film vividly illustrates the urgency of climate action and the importance of planting trees,” Chan explained.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺
“A Thousand Forests” is a coming-of-age musical that follows five teenagers at the prestigious Philippine Forest Camp as they compete for a chance to travel the world. Through captivating music and stunning cinematography, the film addresses urgent climate issues and inspires action, exploring themes of self-discovery and the profound impact of youth on the global stage.

The film stars Dennah Bautista, Santino Juan Santiago, James Mavie Estrella, Ramjean Entera, and Venice Bismonte, with Dominic Ochoa and Chai Fonacier as the guiding foresters.

Jenie Chan composed and wrote the lyrics for eight songs featured in the film, directed by award-winning director Hanz Florentino, known for his work on the acclaimed ecotourism program G Diaries produced by ABS-CBN Foundation.

“I am also proud to announce that over half of our production crew hails from Cebu. Showcasing the talent from our region is a tremendous honor,” shared Florentino.

This cute "contrabida" grew up to become a charming young lady playing one of the lead characters in our upcoming film A Thousand Forests.
Venice Angela Bismonte played a bully in an infomercial for Bantay Bata about six years ago when i was still with ABS-CBN Foundation. She auditioned at I Syoot last August 2023 and bagged the role of Sunshine almost instantly as she was PERFECT for the role in every way.
