BRIEF HISTORY
Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Has a relatively brief History in the grand scheme of canine history, but it can be confused by the several different names hung on the breed at various times. A few centuries ago, in the days when betting on the outcome of dog-oriented blood sports was all the rage in England, gamblers bred ferocious dogs to excel. No need to go explain these sports, most are known.

The granddaddy of these breeds was the Bulldog. Blood sports were outlawed in 1835, but pit-dog wagering continued as an underground activity. Gamblers took Bulldogs and crossed them with quick, feisty terriers. ( Important Note) - The Bulldog was bred to have a pushed in muzzle believing that when biting a Bull etc it would hold and breathe easier. This was far from the truth, it was exactly the opposite and sadly opened the doors to the issues many Breeds face today.

From among the profusion of breeds created in this way, most now extinct, the Staffie, perfected by one James Hinks, of Birmingham, England, in the mid-19th century, emerged as one of the most successful and enduring. The breed name that finally came to these burly, broad-skulled terriers is a nod to the county of Staffordshire, where the breed was especially popular.

PUPPY RESURRECTION AT BIRTH 🌈
✅ GV-26 technique for breathing stimulation in critical puppy

It can commonly occur after a difficult, dystochic or languid birth or in correspondence to a caesarean delivery, when APGAR (puppy vitality scale at birth) is not optimal and therefore respiratory activity is critical.

➡️ The Jen Chung acupuncture technique (GV-26), allows breathing support intervention in puppies with a heart beat present that show a delay in the first breathing act.
- There is a “mapped” point in acupuncture/digitopressure, identified as GV-26, on the tip of the puppy’s truffle which is pressed or better or by stinging it with a needle for a short period of time, can stimulate the central nervous system; evoking an increase in breathing frequency and heart rate.
in It consists of positioning a small needle (indicatively a needle of an insulin syringe - 20/26 G) inserted into the medium frame of the truffle and deepening it until almost touching the hard tissue underneath, leaving it inserted for a few seconds and occasionally rotating it, always for a few seconds; repeating the practice with more cycles of an overall duration of a few minutes and assisting to administer oxygen by incubator or by forced administering with a mask, if necessary.
The result is often excellent and allows to significantly decrease the hypossia condition to which the puppy would be exposed in this critical condition.

This technique can be applied whenever there are signs of respiratory distress in puppies; it is also used in other species, particularly in the bovine species, in calves that present such conditions of respiratory deficiency at birth. Points GV28 and GV26 can also be functional for sheep, horses, dogs, cats, goats.
