Wisdom Wednesday: The Power of Routines - Free Play
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” – Fred Rogers
“All children start their school careers with sparkling imaginations, fertile minds, and a willingness to take risks with what they think.”
Ken Robinson
Wisdom Wednesday
A “learning-friendly” environment is “child-friendly” and “teacher-friendly.” It stresses the importance of students and teachers learning together as a learning community. It places children at the center of learning and encourages their active participation in learning. It also fulfils our needs and interests as teachers, so that we want to, and are capable of, giving children the best education possible.

Wisdom Wednesday: The Power of Routines
"All teachers know that students learn best by doing. The only way a teacher can have a classroom in which kids can learn by doing, by discovery, by activity, is to establish routines and procedures. Students cannot be free to create without procedures and routines."

Mary is not only the bridge joining us to God; she is more. She is the road that God travelled to reach us, and the road that we must travel in order to reach him.

Let this holiday season be a perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek ways to make life better for those around us.
OLL Child Development Center mourns the passing of a beloved member of our community, acclaimed theater director and master storyteller JK Anicoche. For more than a decade, Teacher JK generously shared his time and talent with us. On the school’s 50th anniversary in 2007, he conducted a theater workshop and directed a musical play featuring our preschool children and some OLL CDC graduates. He directed another major stage production on the school’s 55th anniversary in 2012, and held countless storytelling activities with our preschoolers over the years. In March 2020, on our very last school event before the pandemic, he entertained everyone again with his animated storytelling and gave parents valuable tips on how to read to their children.
We will really miss your energy and infectious laughter, Teacher JK. You will forever remain in our hearts.
For those who wish to drop off their book and toy donations this Saturday, November 6, you may visit us from 8 am to 4 pm.
