PINATINDI pa ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang kampanya nito upang matuldukan ang modus ng mga fixer sa regional at district offices ng ahensya sa buong bansa.

Kasunod ito ng pinakahuling insidente ng pagkaka-aresto ng dalawang hinihinalang fixer sa Pamplona, Camarines Sur.

Tiniyak ni LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade ang serye ng mga operasyon laban sa katiwalian sa kanilang hanay at sa iba pang nasasangkot sa mga ilegal na aktibidad sa ahensya.

Kaakibat nito ang muling apela ni Tugade na huwag tangkilikin ang alok na serbisyo ng mga “fixer.”

Binigyang-diin ni Tugade na ang pagdaan sa “shortcut” at ilegal na paraan ng pagkuha ng lisensya ng pagmamaneho o pagpaparehistro ng sasakyan ay maglalagay sa panganib sa buhay hindi lamang ng mismong drayber kundi maging ng kanyang mga pasahero at ng mga taong nasa lansangan.

“Dumadaan tayo sa tamang proseso ng pagkuha ng lisensya at pagpapa-rehistro ng sasakyan para matiyak ang road safety. Dapat alam ng mga aplikante na mahalagang sapat ang kanilang kaalaman sa pagmamaneho at kaligtasan sa lansangan para hindi makasakit o makadisgrasya ng kapwa,” pahayag ni LTO Chief Tugade.

“Importante rin na ang mga pinapa-rehistrong sasakyan ay pasado sa road worthiness para hindi maging mitsa ng aksidente,” dagdag pa nito.

Kamakailan ay isang entrapment operation ang inilunsad ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng LTO Region 5 at pulisya sa Camarines Sur.

Dalawang hinihinalang lalaking “fixer” na may edad 74 at 34, at kapwa naninirahan sa Brgy. Poblacion, Pamplona, Camarines Sur ang huli sa aktong isinasagawa ang ilegal na aktibidad sa opisina ng LTO sa Brgy. Del Rosario, Pamplona, Camarines Sur.

Nahaharap na ang dalawang suspek sa kasong paglabag ng Section 12 ng Republic Act 9485 o “Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.”

Ipinahayag ni LTO Chief Tugade ang kaniyang pagkalugod at pasasalamat sa pagsisikap na ipinamalas ni LTO Region 5 Regional Director Francisco Ranches, Jr. at Assistant Regional Director Vincent Nato sa walang kapaguran na kampanya nito kontra sa mga fixer sa kanilang nasasakupan, at sa mabilis nitong aksyon sa pag-aresto sa mga suspek.

Tips for driving in the rain

1.Turn your headlights on

Turning on your vehicle’s headlights will increase both your own visibility and other drivers’ ability to see your car on the road.

2.Ventilate your car

Rain causes humidity levels to increase. You may find that your vehicle’s windows become foggy.pull over if you are no longer able to see through your windows.

3. Tyre thread

Check the tread of your vehicle tyres. Smooth or worn out tyres can severely reduce traction on wet roadways.
Check your tyres for inflation levels and the proper tyre tread depth.

4. Brake sooner and lighter than usual.

5. Don’t use cruise control.

If you drive without cruise control on, you’ll be able to quickly decelerate by lifting your foot off of the gas pedal and pressing the brake. You’ll also be more likely to focus on the road when cruise control is off.

6. If your car starts to skid on the wet tarmac don’t panic. Stay calm, slowly take your foot off accelerator paddle

7. Slow down, especially at the onset of rain. When the rain starts to fall, it causes the oils and grease that have dripped out of vehicles into the road to rise back to the surface.

8.Slow down

when driving in wet weather conditions, you should drive considerably slower than you normally would. Wet roads are very dangerous. Your vehicle’s reaction time is much slower when it is raining.

Give yourself extra time to get to your destination. Be patient as drivers are likely to reduce speed

9. Avoid deep water. You never know if the depth will cause damage to your vehicle or prevent you from moving forward. If you can’t find a way around it, go slowly through it.

10. Maintain a safe distance between cars

Keep a greater distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you. Stopping your vehicle will be more difficult when driving in the rain. Maintain a distance of several car lengths between your car and other vehicles.
