2010 Panamera S

The S is the mid-grade Porsche sedan, bracketed by a V-6–powered car below and the mighty 500-hp Turbo above. The S packs a 400-hp, 4.8-liter V-8 and drives the rear or all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox Porsche calls PDK; our test example was a rear-driver. The humpbacked hatchback styling is having a hard time finding friends, but even genetic freaks unaccustomed to back-seat comfort won’t complain about the cavernous rear accommodations that result from the Panamera’s goofy roofline.

At 195.6 inches long and 76.0 inches wide, the Panamera is enormous, but its character is not entirely unlike another uniquely shaped Porsche, the one with the engine mounted at the other end. This car could be considered stiff-legged if you’re looking for luxury-barge refinement, but it’s also supremely agile, digging into the pavement and yanking itself through turns with surprising alacrity. The 4.8-liter will stick your Skittles deep into the folds of the leather seats, turning in a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.7 seconds and tearing through the quarter-mile in 13.3 at 107 mph. The Panamera is about the same size as a Mercedes S-class, but the Panamera has a wholly different mission. This is a sports car first and foremost.

Basically a BMW 7-series with more power, more interior dressing, and even better handling, the Alpina-fettled 7 boasts an intoxicating mix of grace and athleticism. And now that the 7-series has been updated for 2013, so has the B7. Before you ask, yes, Alpina managed to extract even more power from BMW’s twin-turbocharged V-8, and, yes, it still rides on gorgeous 21-inch wheels with Alpina’s signature 20-spoke design.

Just like the 2013 7-series lineup, the 2013 B7 gets slightly massaged front-end styling, a new eight-speed automatic transmission in place of last year’s six-cog unit, and some engine tweaks. The B7’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 gets BMW’s Valvetronic variable valve-lift system, which helps boost output by 40 hp and 22 lb-ft of torque over last year’s B7. The new totals are 540 hp and 538 lb-ft. (The regular 7’s V-8 received the same Valvetronic upgrade and gained 45 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque for totals of 445 hp and 480 lb-ft.).

The big difference in power between the B7 and the 750i comes from bigger turbos, bigger intercoolers, oil coolers for the transmission and engine, high-performance pistons, and beefed-up cylinder heads. In addition to this go-faster gear, the 2013 B7 also inherits the same engine stop-start system that the regular 7 gets.

According to Alpina, the 2013 B7 now can hit a drag-limited terminal velocity of 194 mph with rear-wheel drive and 193 for all-wheel-drive models; both figures are up from 175 mph. The company predicts the run from zero to 60 mph will now take between 4.3 and 4.4 seconds. We ran both rear- and all-wheel-drive 2011 B7 models to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds in our testing, so Alpina’s performance estimates likely are conservative

"Being inspired by the craftsmanship of Akira Nakai, Car P**n Racing’s Kim Garcia had his own vision in creating ‘V86‘. Kim and Nakai-San had been closely working during the process in establishing RWB Manila’s current fleet. With this, Kim decided to build an AE86 around the movement with his personal touch.

The first thing you would notice is the ultra-wide smooth flares, Kim shares that the reason why he went for this look rather than the signature ‘riveted flares’ is because of his dream of owning a smooth fender RWB 964.
Kim admits that the process of creating his own kit was no walk in the park. Before finalizing the design, countless of revisions were made to perfectly match the square body lines with the rounded fenders. The final added width? Plus 7 inches up front and 7.5 inches at the rear, these made the 17 x 9.5 -54 (f) and 17 x 10.5 -49 (r) Fifteen52 Tarmac Classics sit flush on all four corners.

To match the aggressive looks, the car has been installed with a 1UZ-FE V8 engine matted with an RB25 transmission. Controlled by an AirREX + AccuAir management combination, the V86 still manages to have a healthy amount of ground clearance on park mode – I believe this touch made the car look more aggressive. To pay tribute to his dream brand, Ferrari, Kim had it painted Rosso Corsa in Manila’s exclusive Ferrari dealer, Autostrada Motore Inc."
