SEDATION DENTISTRY here at EMM Dental Clinic.
Another interesting case for this week is for one of our patients who had her WISDOM TEETH extracted under conscious sedation. This is an optional procedure that we offer for people who are highly anxious or have very low pain tolerance. During conscious sedation, we constantly monitor the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. Most people who receive IV sedation dentistry fall asleep and have little to no memory of their treatment when they wake up. This option is best for people with severe dental anxiety or those who are undergoing lengthy procedures.

Dental implant surgery is a procedure that replaces tooth roots with metal, screwlike posts and replaces damaged or missing teeth with artificial teeth that look and function much like real ones. Still, dental Implants are considered the Gold Standard when it comes to replacing missing tooth.
For today's case, our patient had a horizontal fracture on one of her incisors and extraction was needed. Immediately after extraction, Dr. Jay and Dr. Ellaine placed the dental implant. The abutment and crown will be placed after 4-6 months.

We are still in the tough times but I just want to share some positivity with this prepandemic picture showing the cute smile of Baby Kietaro, one of our youngest patients in the clinic.
Ideally, one way of taking away kids' fear with dentists is by exposing them to dental clinics early on (of course at these times, with the greatest precautions). This experience increases their confidence and as soon as they get acquainted, simple checkups, cleaning or fluoride treatments wouldn't be as much hard.
Primarily, children's fear is because things are unknown to them and raising their level of consciousness about dental visits, dental care, and hygiene increases their confidence as well. As a result, their views change and they see dentists as a friend rather than a for.
When everything's okay, you may consider tagging them along with you with your regular visits 🙂

The Philippine Dental Association (PDA)has issued a position paper denouncing the circulating misinformation relating anaesthesia and COVID-19 vaccine. The paper says that: "To date there are no scientific publications correlating adverse reactions of vaccines and anaesthesia, either through general or local administration".

Ipinapaalala sa lahat na importanteng makuha ang second dose ng bakuna para sa kabuuang proteksyon laban sa virus.
