Did you know?
Today marks the 160th birthday of Apolinario Mabini.
Known by his nicknames “Pule'' and "Katabay,” meaning the observant one, he was given it during the lodge of the Philippine Masonry.

Born on July 23, 1864, in Tanauan, Batangas. He was the second of eight children of an illiterate peasant and a public market vendor. He took a Bachelor of Arts, but due to poverty, he decided to stop, but when he overcame it, he became a lawyer.

In 1895, his health slowly deteriorated, and he got arrested in the case of a rebellion. The people called him “The Sublime Paralytic."

From his hammock and rattan chair, Mabini helped shape the first Philippine republic under the late President Emilio Aguinaldo. Unable to fight on the battlefield due to paralysis on both legs, he instead used his brilliance through his written works to inspire Filipinos to pursue the struggle for Philippine independence.

Let us remember his legacy, which serves as a reminder that genuine strength rests in the power of the mind.

“Papel na Kwarto”

Thin paper walls

Memories written in each corner, delicate to the touch

A room made out of paper.

As random as it may be, the walls are damp, wet, and stained from previous water drips.

The air is moist and full of nostalgia.

A room made out of delicate memories

Dry spots from happy thoughts

Stains from past traumas

And wet spots from current battles

The room is delicate

The person who lives in it is delicate

The room is made out of paper.

Today, July 07, in the year 1892, Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or K*K, the organization that sparked the revolution against Spanish rule was founded. A group of Filipinos united by one goal: to free the Philippines from the 300-year colonization of Spain. With Andres Bonifacio as its leader, the Filipinos fought valiantly, giving their blood, sweat, and tears for the noble cause of freedom and independence.

132 years later, let us reflect on the current situation our country is facing. With the ongoing dispute regarding the West Philippine Sea being claimed by another country, harassing both our local fishermen and coast guard, may we remain steadfast in upholding our rights and sovereignty over our own territories.

The K*K helped us gain our independence through force of arms, but that’s not the only solution to every dispute. By being politically and socially aware and active, we can already prove that the spirit of nationalism and patriotism still burns bright within us. Let us not forget the values that the K*K has given us, along with the sacrifices that paved the way for the freedom that we have in this modern day and age; for living a good present and creating a safe future lies in remembering and giving importance to the past.

The person that we are today is shaped by our past experiences, memories, and interactions. In our individual lives, our pets hold a significant role as our best friends who are there through thick or thin to supply us with barks and meows with a whisper of love. Pet Remembrance Day is a way to celebrate the pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge. Our pets spent their whole lives pouring love and loyalty into ours. Whether they were dogs, cats, rabbits, or any other wonderful companion, their existence acted like a warm blanket that embraced us when everything felt dull and cold.

Sometimes, it might feel unfair and heartbreaking that they left us too early and their lives were too short. However, deep inside our hearts, we know they are looking out for us behind fluffy clouds and will always remain in our hearts. Their memories will always be vivid and happy, giving us moments to reminisce about.

Pet Remembrance Day is a day for mixed emotions for this day allows us to mourn their passing while looking back on the happy moments we shared with them. Today, let us share stories, look through old photos, let the tears fall, and stretch a smile.

QCians, let’s take this moment and remember our best friends in heaven.

What comes after graduation? 😨

QCians, lalo na sa mga fresh graduates, naplano niyo na ba kung anong susunod niyong gagawin after graduation? O hanggang ngayon ay nangangapa pa rin kayo on navigating this new phase of your adulting life?

Kahit sino naman, mag-aalala sa kung anong susunod nilang gagawin sa buhay. Pero kung may maipapayo man kami para sa inyo, that would be, to pause for a moment and take it one step at a time. Alam naman nating lahat na adulthood is a serious matter, pero sana’y ‘wag pa rin natin kalimutang huminga’t maglaan ng oras so we can gather our thoughts and properly plan things ahead.

Sabi nga ng BINI, “Huwag mag-alala, buhay ay ‘di karera!” 🌸

We know it’s tough, pero you’ll make it for sure! It’s better to start slow than to rush things without a proper vision kung saan mo gustong makarating sa buhay; tandaan: in life, direction is better than speed!

Congratulations and good luck on your next journey, graduates!

June Solstice is here!

Did you know that today, June 21, isn't just a random date? It's the time of the June solstice! This astronomical event marks the year's peak for sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere, making it the longest day of the year. Meanwhile, for the people residing south of the equator, it's the complete opposite – the shortest day with the least amount of sunshine. This difference is all thanks to Earth's tilt as it journeys around the sun. Pretty amazing, right?

Longer daytime means a good opportunity for outdoor activities! Engage with various recreational activities outside your home and make the most out of this day with your friends and family!

Happy June Solstice, QCians!

Today, we come together to celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, which has great spiritual significance in Islam and honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to offer his son as a sacrifice in obedience to Allah.

This holy day emphasizes the virtues of faith, fidelity, and selflessness. May the joy, serenity, and spiritual fulfillment of this Eid al-Adha be extended to our Muslim brothers and sisters worldwide. So, let us honor the values of selflessness, kindness, and harmony that make this day so unique as we unite in celebration.

Let's give it a moment to pause, say thanks, and strengthen the ties that bind our world community by sharing our blessings with those in need.

This Sunday isn’t just an ordinary Sunday. It is a day dedicated to appreciating our strong, hardworking, and supportive fathers. Use this day as your chance to express your love and gratitude for the first man in our lives to ever love us!

Fatherhood comes in many different forms–may it be our real father, stepfather, grandfather, or even our uncle. But no matter what we call them, the love they give and the things they are willing to sacrifice just to provide the best life we can have cannot be measured by any wealth in the world.

Starting a family is one thing. But to be a real father takes courage, hard work, sacrifices, time, and effort. So to all our “haligi ng tahanan”, we see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for everything you’ve done for us.

To all superdads out there, Happy Father’s Day!

“I Started Peeling My Oranges Today”

You're back
After some time, thoughts of you came back
Along with the nostalgia the darkness brings
As the hands of the clock reach the deepest parts of the night

It is a feeling I'm well acquainted with
But it still feels like the first time whenever it crawls its way back to me
Even so, it is a feeling I will never reject, resent, nor hate
For it is a proof that I was once able to sincerely enjoy life for what it truly is

It was good while it lasted
What we had is an experience I will never regret of having
For it made made me realize that I am capable of such feats
Despite the things this soul had to go through before it crossed paths with you

Things may not have ended the way we wanted them to be
But it was still a sight to behold, and now that the sun is rising again
And the thoughts of you are starting to fade away for good
I would like you to know that I started peeling my oranges today.

Did you know?
The date for the Philippine Independence has been declared more than once.

On June 12, 1898, Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista prepared, wrote, and read the Declaration of Independence. General Emilio Aguinaldo declared the Philippines' independence.

Why is 12th of June celebrated as Independence Day?

Simply, President Diosdado Macapagal remarked that, "the recognition of a nation's independence should not be accorded by any other country but itself." Based on this belief, he issued Proclamation No. 28. 1962, thereby changing the date of Philippine Independence from July 4 to June 12.

On July 4, 1946, the United States formally recognized the Republic of the Philippines as independent. President Harry S. Truman issued Proclamation 2695 in line with the Philippine Independence Act also known as the "Tydings-McDuffie Act", which required Filipinos to ratify a constitution and vote for independence. This statement signified the end of more than 333 years of Spanish colonial authority and the start of the Filipino people's struggle for freedom and self-determination.

Hope we never forget to learn, cherish, appreciate, and recognize our history because it gives meaning to our present and helps us construct a better tomorrow.

History doesn’t just complete us—it also empowers us for the fact that our Filipino ancestors have the power and courage to fight for the future of our country. Let us celebrate this day with pride and patriotism. Happy Independence Day, QCians!

QCians, did you know that 71% of the Earth’s surface consists of the ocean? Yes, you read it right! And today is a crucial day for us to be reminded about the importance of the ocean because on this day, the 8th of June, we celebrate World Ocean Day.

The ocean is a huge body of water that is home to many aquatic animals. There are five main oceans on Earth: the Arctic, Southern, Indian, Atlantic, and the one closest to the Philippines, the Pacific Ocean. The ocean is important to us as it provides food, serves as a transportation route, and even contributes to tourism in countries. That is why we should all make a collective effort to protect the oceans and do our best to preserve for the future generations to com

QCians, together, let’s create a world with healthy and pristine oceans. Happy World Ocean Day!

All you need to do is be present.
Walk inside a room and sit on your chair.
It only takes one stare and one statement.
So easy for you to shatter me—what a skill.

I thought I was strong.
I thought I learned to ignore.
I was wrong—always been.
Most especially when it comes to you.

Maybe because I see you well.
And everything you say matters.
That even the most hurtful word you tell,
I can't help but break and still listen.

There's a fire in your every word.
Both to boost and burn everything.
My hopes. My dreams. My visions.
How lucky you are to crumple my emotions.

Did you know that June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month?

Yearly, 1 in 4 of us experience mental health problems. But too many of us fail to get help when needed. This month, let’s break the stigma; share your stories, check in on your friends, and support each other!

Upon celebrating this special and important month, always remember that men deserve comfort too. Check men in your circle and environment. Always remind them that it’s okay to feel sad and cry all the time.

#QCULikha #MaLIKHAin

Ang QCU LIKHA ay kilala noon bilang QCPU CSS o QCPU Creative Student Society. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SJLajqkBeHhewJglvvdNTQV6GmTOodoF/view?usp=sharing
