Tea manure (TM) is created by soaking partially dried manure in water for one week. It contains all major nutrients in small amounts but is abundant in trace elements. TM can be used as soil fertilizer or applied as foliar spray, releasing nutrients gradually. Additionally, undiluted TM can be spread over a compost heap to evenly distribute moisture and beneficial microorganisms, enhancing nutrient content.

Another key adaptation mechanism that farmers can adapt during El NiƱo is mulching.

Mulching helps control soil temperature, lessens evaporation, and prevents w**d growth. It also shields the roots from extreme temperatures and aids in the prevention of soil cracks.

Mulch can be made of grass clippings, straw, wood chips, dried leaves, or synthetic materials.

One of the key adaptation mechanisms that farmers can adapt during El NiƱo is the use of water-saving technologies like the alternate wetting and drying (AWD).

The AWD has an observation well, which allows farmers to monitor the water table up to the root zone during the tillering and pre-flowering stages. To improve plant nitrogen uptake efficiency and prevent flower sterility, the observation well must be suspended during fertilizer application.

The AWD may also lower greenhouse gas emissions and improve the number of productive tillers, resulting in more filled grains per panicle.

Even if your neighbors aren't practicing organic farming, you can still grow organic foods and fibers. To safeguard crops from pesticide drift from neighboring fields, consider planting natural hedges along the boundaries. This helps minimize the risk of pesticide spray drift caused by wind or runoff water. These natural hedges act as a protective buffer. Specifically, the wider the border area around your fields, the more effective it will be in preventing undesired pesticide exposure.

You can repurpose items like pots, tubs, barrels, and used clothing to craft vegetable containers for your functional garden. Customize your container garden to suit your preferences. You can arrange them on the ground, place them on a pedestal, mount them on a windowsill, or hang them from your porch. Explore creative options, such as organizing containers into vertical or hanging gardens.

When combining different plants in one pot, it's essential to pair those with similar water and fertilizer needs. To maximize the use of space, consider combining trailing plants with upright ones and plants even thrive when grown near specific companions, while others may not grow well together. Examples of good plant combinations include beans with carrots and squash, eggplant with beans, tomatoes with basil and onions, and lettuce with herbs. Fowl pox is a viral disease that can affect various types of poultry, including chickens, turkeys, ducks, and more. Mosquitoes can transmit the virus between flocks, and direct contact among birds can also spread the disease. The virus can infect birds through their eyes, skin wounds, or the respiratory system.

Although contagious, it spreads slowly. Prevention involves implementing strong biosecurity measures, vaccination using the pigeon pox vaccine for chickens, and controlling mosquito populations near the birds' habitat.
