SAKA welcomes Labor Day by reaffirming its solidarity with Hacienda Luisita’s agri-workers. Through Kitchen Kalasag, we present to you PastiLangka! Our plant-based take on the legendary Moro dish using raw Langka as a meat alternative. Plus the wordplay on the Cebuano pastilan, symbolizes our contempt for the feudal system of land monopolies, haciendas and plantations.
For 160/meal, we invite you to show your solidarity with the exploited farmers of Hacienda Luisita.
Each meal purchase helps support the organizing efforts of Tarlac’s agri-workers.
Hacienda Luisitia’s workers have long toiled in slave-like conditions working for as low as P9 a week amid the scorching El Nino season. Meanwhile they’ve endured constant repression and militarization. They suffered the worst on November 16, 2004, when fourteen striking farmers were massacred. Even today justice remains elusive.
Join us and take a stand for the agri-workers and purchase a meal or two via bit.ly/KKpastilangka from April 16-22. Every purchase and share of this fundraiser counts.
Together, let us keep our militant spirit alive as Luisita’s workers join us on Labor Day.
