Sentro ng Wikang Filipino Diliman
Bilang bahagi sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2017 sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, Diliman, malugod na iniimbitahan ang mga g**o, mag-aaral, manunulat at mananaliksik na dumalo at makiisa sa MGA SUSING SALITA: Pambansang Seminar sa Pagbuo ng Diskurso sa Konseptong Filipino. Isasagawa ang pambansang seminar sa Agosto 24-25, 2017 sa awditoryum ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon sa UP Diliman. Alinsunod ang proyektong ito bilang pagtalima sa 1987 Konstitusyon at Palisi sa Wika ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas sa pagpapaunlad at pagpapalaganap ng wikang Filipino bilang wikang pambansa.
Sa pangunguna ito ng Sentro ng Wikang Filipino-UP Diliman at pakikipagtulungan ng UP Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas ng Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura, UP Departamento ng Linggwistiks ng Kolehiyo ng Agham Panlipunan at Pilosopiya, at UP Dibisyon ng Araling Wika ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon. Ito ang kauna-unahang pagkakataon para sa isang pambansang seminar na magtatampok sa pagbuo ng diskurso na hango sa konseptong Filipino. Gamit ang isang susing salita sa anumang wika sa Pilipinas, layunin ng seminar na paunlarin ang inisyal na mga ideya at konseptong nakapaloob sa piniling salita.
Magiging daan din ang seminar upang matukoy ang ambag ng piniling susing salita sa pananaliksik at kritikal na panunuri tungo sa produksyon ng mga kaalaman. Tampok na tagapagsalita ang mga kilala at nangungunang mga g**o, iskolar at mananaliksik mula sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, Diliman na patuloy sa paggamit sa wikang Filipino upang paunlarin ang disiplinang kanilang kinabibilangan. Pagkakataon din ito upang makapagbahagi ang mga tagapagsalita kung sa paanong paraan nila ginagamit ang wikang Filipino sa larangan ng pagtuturo at pananaliksik.

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte recalled the government's peace negotiators from negotiations with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) until being given "compelling reason" to resume talks. Research group IBON, however, points out that the most compelling reason for having peace talks are the economic and political reforms on the agenda that can address the roots of armed conflict. Ending the peace talks with the NDFP also ends talks on important social and economic reforms which makes the prospects for their implementation and achieving benefits for the people dimmer.
IBON noted that ceasefires are at most only momentary respites from fighting. The government and the NDFP reaching agreements on genuine reforms, on the other hand, are among the clearest steps towards peace based on social justice. The government and NDFP each prepared their proposed draft for a comprehensive agreement on social and economic reforms (CASER) and exchanged these in mid-January 2017. IBON reviewed these and compared their respective proposals for key reforms.
Free land distribution, free irrigation, national minimum wage, free education and health care, free day care centers, nurseries and milk banks, free internet and low taxes for the poor, are some of the doable reforms that government can already act on at the policy level.
