Kian is a Persian tom brought to us by his furmom. She's complaining of Kian's frequent scratching that causes alopecia on the head parts. Microscopic test shows tiny creature with eggs. An earmites.
Ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) in cats are common, but can cause severe irritation and are highly contagious infesting external ear canal.
Symptoms can range in severity depending on the level of the infestation. They can affect one or both ears, and their presence often causes inflammation and intense itchiness. Cats affected by ear mites will scratch at their ears and shake their heads to attempt to relieve their discomfort, and you may notice that their ears droop.
In severe cases, ear mites can lead to inflammation of the outer ear as well as the external ear canal. The cat’s ears may appear red and inflamed, and you may notice pus or a dark material resembling coffee grounds in your cat’s ear canal. Ear mites can also lead to torn eardrums.
If you noticed the same signs on your beloved cats, consult your Vet.🐈🐾🩺
