Join us this World AIDS Day as we rally together, hand in hand, to empower communities and fight against HIV/AIDS.
Let's lead the change, support one another, and build a stronger future where every life matters.
Antibiotics do not prevent or treat viral infections like the flu.
They work against bacteria and bacterial co-infections (say, you have the flu and it worsens to pneumonia).
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a threat to global health, food safety & security and sustainable development.
Do your part.
Prevent the spread of AMR.
The Department of Health (DOH) joins the global observance of the World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) from November 18-24, 2023, which we locally call as Philippine AMR Awareness Week or PAAW. The local theme for this year’s PAAW celebration is “Sama samang magtulungan upang antimicrobial resistance ay mapigilan.”
It’s World AMR Awareness Week!
The danger is real. Some of our best medicines could stop working due to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), which contributes to nearly 5 million deaths annually.
Let’s work together to prevent the spread.
Imagine your medicine stops working? 💊
Stressful, isn’t it?
This can happen when we misuse antimicrobial medicines. Disease-causing bacteria then become resistant to drugs and the drugs stop working.

My personal take on this case:
I am not comfortable when faced with a patient with a demanding lawyer parent/grandparents/aunts/uncles.
I think I am TIPTOEING ON THIN ICE.
Unless we have established friendship e.g. my lawyer friends with sons and daughters, then we are good.
Whenever I face a new patient-lawyer, at the back of my mind I'd rather have them seen by another doctor or at the emergency room. I have sworn the HIPPOCRATIC OATH that I will take care of patients whatever is their background but in the case of lawyers and their families, there is apprehension and hesitancy. This is also true with my doctor friends with lawyer patients/families. We have the same sentiments with lawyers and their families.
I DO NOT WANT TO BE ANOTHER DR. IGGY.
RIP DR. IGGY.
This. Is. Just. Sad.
