Tamaraws joined the protest at Camp Aguinaldo on the International Day of the Disappeared against worsening fascist attacks of the state.

One week has passed since Rowena "Owen" Dasig, former Anakbayan ST Secretary General, has disappeared after their trumped up charges have been junked. It follows a disturbing pattern of enforced disappearances and worsenig state terrorism under Marcos Jr. Proposed funds for the fascist DND and AFP has also increased. It coincides with cases of campus militarization in the region.

The redtagging hearing in the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs lead by Bato is a shameless attempt to attack the student community and the education sector.

Bato is obsessed with weeding out schools that have developed revolutionaries. Rebel returnee Kate Raca even mentions FEU in her experience as an NPA. Yet the hearing fails to root why armed struggle exists and why students have taken part in it. Through learning about society and the ills that cause the worsening crisis of Filipinos, students see their role in generating social change through the highest form of struggle. The state would rather terrorize the right to organize and protest instead of genuinely address the people's calls.

This hearing has been a waste of public funds, time, and resources that could have been put into real problems of student-youth like budget cuts, commercialization, and repressive policies in schools like FEU. It sets a harmful precedent for worsening attacks against students.

WELLNESS NOT FOUND IN WRP!

These policy changes are reprehensible for their lack of consultation with the student body, similar to recent tuition fee increase. While the Tamaraw community's calls for lesser minimum hours, removal of WRP for upper years, clear announcements, better booking system, and additional activities remain cast aside.

FEU has put student's concern at the bottom of its interest with these changes. Heed the calls for a Pro-Student WRP!

This August 6 , the Senate's Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs lead by Bato dela Rosa will hold its second redtagging hearing on alleged "communist terrorist recruitment" in schools and organizations, and aims to justify the use of the repressive Anti-Terror Act in schools.

This hearing will surely bring further fascist attacks against progressive students and organizations. This effort by Bato, who himself is a criminal with numerous cases inside and outside the country for human rights violations in Duterte's drug war, should be condemned and cast aside. It is deplorable that Bato and Marcos Jr.'s state prioritize such attacks and waste of public funds instead of students' numerous concerns on impending budget cuts and additional fees.

2023 VS. 2024 IN THE FASTEST EARING UNIVERSITY

Looking at our tuition and fees in 2023 compared to 2024, we can see a pattern of increase in different courses. This is contraty to FEU's claims that "there will be no tuition fee increase for this year."

FEU has blatantly lied to the Tamaraw community. How FEU has implemented such tuition fee increase has repressed our rights to voice our concerns against tuition fee increase.

ALERT!

Two paralegals and two youth organizers
standing against the illegal demolition in Donald Compound, FB Harrison St., Pasay City affecting nearly 500 families were arrested by Pasay City Police earlier today amidst negotiation efforts.

This is a repeated case of fascist repression against the right to housing, with Megaland Corporation and local police leading the violent illegal demolition despite community protest. The four should be immediately released and the clearing operations be halted.

Marcos Jr.: Detached from Filipino Masses

Kabataan PL FEU Official Statement on Marcos Jr.’s 2024 State of the Nation Address

Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address exposes how he is separate from the true experience of millions of Filipinos. His speech remains abstract on specific solutions to solving people’s issues. He parades of his “Bagong Pilipinas” and attempts to cover up the worsening socio-economic crisis.

The recent flooding by typhoon Carina, wreckage of homes, displacement of communities exposes the state of the nation. We can see the state’s lack of sufficient flood control methods and lack of overall response a key role in the suffering faced by Filipinos.

Marcos’ mere recognition of “challenges in education” provides no concrete solution to the worsening crisis. Commercialization in additional fees and budget cuts, as well as repressive attacks against critical students and militarization of schools and communities has only worsened. He has remained deaf to student-youth’s calls for the right to education.

Verbal sentiments to ban and address POGOs are empty. Legislation banning POGOs has been spearheaded by progressives for months. If Marcos Jr. wanted to ban foreign control of our economy through POGOs, he should assert support for legislation.

His claims to the West Philippine Sea are also empty. Marcos Jr. has been number one in allowing imperialist US military presence in our seas and country. He has played puppet to US war provocations that have aggravated tensions in our seas against US rival China. Marcos Jr.

Marcos Jr. 's SONA are only means to cover up the worsening socio-economic crisis in our country and his negligence to the masses. Claims of agricultural production are deaf to the broad landgrabbing, import of products, and fascist attacks on farmers. Rising prices and insufficient wages despite recent increases leave the Filipino masses experiencing widespread poverty.

Tamaraws, it is essential we see through the flowery attempts of Marcos Jr. to cover up the current crisis. Learn from the masses the true state of the nation - in the streets, communities, and among our fellow students. Stand with the masses in fighting against Marcos Jr.’s negligence to the worsening crisis. Our united voice is key for genuine social change along with the Filipino masses.

Despite the 4.5% inflation rate in the national level, FEU did not impose a tuition fee increase for school year 2024-2025, except for selected miscellaneous fees, as stated in the Tuition Fee Consultation with FEU stakeholders.

Most of the issues raised by the student leaders were addressed particularly student experience.

An invitation is extended to the student leaders to further discuss student concerns.

FEU: SINUNGALING, KAPITALISTA!

Sinabi ng FEU na "walang increase sa basic tuition" at P573 ang dagdag sa miscellaneous fees sa A.Y. 2024-2025. Ngunit makikita sa mga tuition fee breakdown ang dagdag na abot 3% hanggang higit 10% o P3,000 hanggang P10,000 ang itinaas sa kabuuang matrikula mula sa nagdaang taon.

Malinaw na atake ito sa karapatan ng mga Tamaraw malaman ang matrikulang babayaran natin. Pagsawalang-bahala rin ito sa pagtutol ng mga Tamaraw sa tuition fee increase pagkatapos ng isang hindi maayos na konsultasyon. Lantad na niloko tayo ng FEU sa mga dagdag bayarin para sa mas paggagatas nito sa mga estudyante ng kita.

2+2 MINISTERIAL MEETING = SUFFERING FOR FILIPINO PEOPLE

On July 30, “2+2 foreign and defense ministers” meeting between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austen, and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo and Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro will be held.

Days after typhoon Carina has ravaged the Filipino people, Marcos Jr. wastes no time in heeding the interests of US imperialism for control of our nation. The masses are suffering and require relief efforts, and Marcos Jr. prioritizes foreign entry that will only bring the Filipino masses more suffering.

It is expected numerous deals that favor US domination of our military will be passed. One deal is the bilateral Philippines - Security Sector Assistance Roadmap (-PSSAR), a 5-year plan for Philippine purchase of US military equipment. It allows more US burying the Philippines in debt for its personal profit of arms deals as a global war machine.

Another deal is the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA). Sharing military intel further institutionalizes US command of the Philippine mercenary military through its access of vital information. It also paves the way for worsening state terrorism by US and PH troops.

Such deals further worsen the US neocolonial character of the Philippines. The US weaponizes such policies for supposed cooperation, deceiving the Filipino masses to hide their intentions to control the Asia-Pacific region amidst the imperialist rivalry against China. These are clear war provocations for the US to build conditions for imperialist wars of aggression in our territory, like how the US promotes unfair treaties across the world and has lead the genocide in Palestine.

Both the deals unfairly benefit US imperialism. Marcos Jr. and his cronies play puppet to such deals and betray the Filipino people for their foreign masters. These deals that clearly manifest US imperialism and Marcos Jr.’s puppetry deserve utmost condemnation.

Days after his SONA, we see the true state of the nation as ravages the country, affecting millions.

This is no simple natural event. Marcos Jr. is accountable to his negligence to the Filipino people. Is this the 5,500 flood control prevention systems he is proud of? Where is the sufficient flood control infrastructure for such calamities?

Instead, Marcos Jr. has prioritized reclamation projects like in Manila Bay, the Pasig River Expressway (PARex), and numerous large scale mining projects like in Maco, Davao de Oro which continue to ravage the environment and disrupt the ecosystem. They also bring widespread displacement of informal setllers and indigenous people. Such harmful projects lead by foreign monopoly capitalists also worsen the climate crisis in the world in the name of economic growth. Countries like the Philippines bear the brunt of it as we have seen.

Kabataan PL FEU calls on the Tamaraw community. As we organize donation drives and pantries, may we remember Marcos Jr.'s negligence that caused so much pain to the Filipino people.

MARCOS JR. NEGLIGENT TO THE YOUTH AND THE FILIPINO PEOPLE
Official Statement of Kabataan PL FEU

Marcos Jr.’s negligence has been transparent over the last two years of his regime, where the socio-economic crisis faced by the Filipino people has only worsened. His repeated carelessness can be seen in anti-people policies in multiple sectors.

The conditions of a colonial, commercialized, and repressive education system has brought hardship to student-youth everywhere. Anti-student policies, tuition fee increase, repression of student’s voices are all documented - as the right to education is trampled upon for profit and rankings.

Widespread landgrabbing and fascist attacks in the city and the countryside occur and worsen.
Workers are faced with dirt-cheap wages and recent increases like the P35 in NCR remain not enough with the rising prices of commodities.

Marcos Jr. remains a US puppet in the on-going dispute in the West Philippine Sea. He allows continued US warmongering and provocations against China. The state also fails to pursue peaceful resolutions in the WPS and in invoking legal victories like those in the Hague against Chinese aggression.

The Filipino masses continue to suffer yet remain unheard. The crisis continues to worsen over the years. With this, a call to action for the Tamaraw community is necessary. Unite with the broad Filipino masses in the protest on Marcos Jr.’s upcoming State of the Nation Address to call against the repeated attacks of the current administration and charge Marcos Jr. for his negligence.

1 YEAR AND STILL NO JUSTICE.

Kabataan Partylist FEU stands with the Tamaraw community as we remember the anniversary of Keilo Acuin's passing. Though a year has passed, FEU has yet to take any action in addressing the concerns and demands of its students.

The system in FEU reflects that of the whole country. Cast aside are student's concerns of better systems, pro-student programs, addressing the mental health crisis, and less burdensome curriculums. Students are put through the worst systems where there are barely any breaks and they are worked to the bone.

FEU subscribes to an education system that prioritizes profit and rankings over student welfare. It is a system that would rather produce cheap and docile labor for foreign and local capitalist production rather than prioritize student's well-being and nurture critical thinking and nationalism.

These are conditions that have lead to Keilo's passing and is visible across the Tamaraw community today. As our education system serves a ruling few - students remain victimized.

Tamaraws are in mourning. It is all the more reason we unite and call for genuine system change in our education: one that is nationalist, scientific, and mass-oriented. Through our united call for justice, we can ensure no one will ever be a victim of the rotten system of education again.

Tamaraws hold a prayer vigil and candle lighting ceremony on the 1 year death anniversary of MedTech student Keilo Acuin.

As students mourn and pay respects to his life, the Tamaraw community remains steadfast in the call for justice for all victims of the rotten education system. As long as the conditions that lead to Keilo's death remain intact, anti-student curriculums, commercialized education, and repressive policies, students will continue to be victimized.
