The breeze blocks, used as brise soleil particularly in this structure, are strategically placed in the southwest part to provide shade and protection from solar heat gain. On the eastern part of the structure, louvers are installed to reduce morning solar exposure, therefore creating ambient linear shadows in the interior. Both sun shading devices are permeable enough to allow air flow inside and promote a seamless blend of modern and traditional features.

B Residence | Renovation

The skylight added in the structure creates emphasis on the increased space of the interior and floods it in with natural light. With extended height, more fenestrations and existing vegetations, not only heat gain is reduced in the inside but also the outside air temperature is lowered.

Beach House | Design Proposal

A soft transition from the beach to the structure using natural elements like wood and stone accentuates the house from the organic plain patterns of the nature around it.

Mixed-Use Building ||(

The superimposed curves on the directive horizontal and vertical elements of the structure added a softened and balanced appearance. Curves also dictate the movement of the users of the private space above, hence, creating a visual contrast between public and private space of the structure.

Interlocking Polygons

The facade is designed to create a boundary between public and private with a sense of stability through the visual effect of a vertical poche as the hinge of the horizontal elements.

The leading line of the elongated plane in the pool side also serves as the axis of symmetry of the lower and upper floors.

The use of breeze blocks as Brise soleil, a solar shading system that reduces heat gain in the building, has also become a tool to maintain privacy of the house by limiting the visual connectivity of the private space inside and the public space outside without compromising the ventilation of the structure.

M Boarding House | Design Development

Color forms another communicative system in the structure. It was an added element to delineate the identity of the users to the public and to bring about an experience among the users. Fins, a shading device, also create privacy to blur personal activities from the nearby road and create depth and movement to the austere form of the structure.

Balay ni Inday

The site, being situated in the homely neighborhood of Rombang, Antique, is greatly considered in the design process of the structure. During the onset of the planning, there are three points highlighted that served as the backbone of project: Humble, Homey and Connected. Along with these considerations, also comes the restriction of mobility of the materials amidst the unseen boundaries set by the pandemic. And with these challenges, the need for craft arises. The materials of construction, being limited within the proximity of local hardwares, form crafts that merit not only the budget but also the creativity of the project.
