“If you follow me around, you know I keep saying that the restaurant / food biz is one of the most difficult businesses to be in. You have to find ways to minimize the risks, because even the soundest of concepts might have a hard time taking off. I would rather have a simple restaurant doing simple but solid dishes than some fancy joint making exotic food and trying to court the stars. The former is exactly what is - a neighborhood standby that makes well-made, tasty choices that you won’t think twice about coming back for again and again. They’ve played it smart and it shows! At my cousin’s birthday lunch, my uncle got some trays of food from them (PRO TIP: they’re one solid choice to get trays from for your next big gathering!) and it was better than I expected: a kick ass chunky seafood chowder (my favorite dish of the meal!).. one of my new favorite fish dishes - a Parmesan cheese glazed fish... pinakbet paella, eaten with bagoong.. iberico garlic chicken.. shortrib kaldereta.. all keepers! Twas a happy lunch full of veteran moves: this is food made to please. Well done! ”
