The Vicariate of Saint Vincent Ferrer announces its Vicariate Youth Day which will be held in San Juan Nepomuceno Parish, San Remigio, Cebu come September 2-3, 2023. This is going to be the Annual Youth Gathering of the Vicariate of St. Vincent Ferrer.

The Vicariate of Saint Vincent Ferrer consists of 7 Parishes namely; Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Vincent Ferrer Bogo City, San Juan Nepomuk Parish San Remigio, San Isidro Labrador Parish Tabogon, St. Michael the Archangel Parish Lambusan, San Martin de Porres Parish Ilihan, Tabogon, Virgen Delos Remedios Odlot, Bogo, Holy Family of Nazareth Parish Lapaz Bogo, and 1 Quasi-Parish (Santo Niño Quasi-Parish Nailon Bogo).

Rev. Fr. Erik T. Orio, who happens to be the Parish Priest of San Miguel Arkanghel Church of Lambusan, has been duly appointed as the Vicariate Youth Spiritual Director through the administrative power of our Episcopal Vicar during their Clergy Meeting last week.

The Parish Youth Coordinating Council of San Remigio is overwhelmed with Joy and Blessing because this will be part of the journey of the Parish in celebrating its Sexadecacentennial (160th) Canonical Establishment Anniversary.

FIESTA JUAN| Agi'g pagpangandam sa nagsingabot ta nga 159th Parochial Fiesta karong Mayo 7-16, 2023 pasidungog kang San Juan Nepomuceno, ang atong parokya pinanguluhan sa Parish Youth Coordinating Council, adunay baligya nga Fiesta Banner/Fiesta Greetings nga nagkantidad ug 500.00, 3 by 2 ang size niini. Ang deadline niining maong Fiesta Tarps karong umaabot Mayo 5, 2023.

Sa mga gustong mopalit niini, mamahimo ninyong ipadangat ang inyong mga donasyon sa atong Parish Office, o di ba kaha pagpakigkita sa atong Parish Pastoral Council Vice-President Shaun Felices Soria o kang Sir Mark John II Paragoso, ang atong Parish Youth Coordinator.

Financial Assistance for Public School Students

Guidelines and Qualifications to Avail the Financial Assistance

- The financial assistance must not exceed P5,000.00 per semester;
- The applicant must be a resident of San Remigio for at least six (6) months prior to the time of application, he or she is required a barangay certification for this purpose;
- The applicant must be a regular college student in a public school;
- The applicant must not have a grade or rating below 2.5 or its equivalent in any subject;
- The applicant must be of good moral character and to prove this must submit a certification from the barangay or a police clearance;
- The applicant must be an indigent and to prove this must submit a certificate of indigency from his/her barangay;
- Students with academic excellence (students with honors, dean’s lister, etc) will be given preference;
- Only one applicant will be accepted from each family. A family means a unit consisting of parents and their children, whether legitimate or illegitimate.

Documentary Requirements:

1. Certificate of Live Birth
2. Proof of Enrollment/Study Load
3. School ID
4. Grade Card or its equivalent
5. Certificate of Residence certifying that the applicant is a resident of at least six months at the time of application
6. Police clearance
7. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the Barangay
8. Certificate of indigency
9. Proof of academic excellence if there is any

Sa Septembre 28, 2022 magsugod ang atong Triduum Mass pahinungod kang Sr. San Remigio sa alas 4:30 sa hapon hangtud na sa Septembre 30, 2022.

Sa Septembre 29, 2022, ang atong celebrant/preacher mao si Rev. Fr. Cresenciano Ubod sa San Vicente Ferrer Parish sa Liloan Cebu.

Sa Septembre 30, 2022, mao gihapon ang takna sa Santos nga Misa, alas 4:30 sa kahapunon.

Sobra na sa usa ka dekada diin ang atong zona nagpahigayon sa Flores de Mayo alang sa pag pasidungiog sa mahal nga Birhen Maria. Sa mga niaging tuig, gipahigayon kini sa tibook buwan sa mayo. Tungod kay nagpadayon ang adlaw-adlaw nga pag eskuwela sa atong mga kabantan-unan ug sa uban pang mga kakulian, karong tuiga ato kining nasugdan pag Mayo 21 na. Sukad niadtong Mayo 21, adlaw-adlaw kitang nagpahigayon ug flores de mayo sa atong kapilya.

Kagahapong adlawa mao ang Culmination Activity sa matuigong Flores de Mayo nga atong gicelebrar dinhi sa atong zona. Dili gayud kini magpalampuson ug wala ang inyong suporta, hilabi na sa atong mga nadawat nga donations gikan sa mga manggihatagon natong mga donors. Busa, nangayo gayud ug dakong pasalamat ang ZYCC sa inyong walay hunong nga pagsuporta.

ANONG KWENTONG FLORES DE MAYO MAYROON KA?

Every Flores De Mayo, I get the chance to know and encounter other people and I am always excited because of the snacks HAHAHAHAHA. Joining Flores De Mayo, I have learned how to pray the holy rosary. Every afternoon when we go to the chapel to attend the Flores De Mayo sometimes ug malimot kog dala ug flowers manguha ko ug buwak sa daplin² para lng naay madala nga buwak then malipay dayun ko when mag start na ug paso² mag dala ug kanang letter sa name ni Mama Mary HAHAHAHAHA then kada human sa flores mo uli na mag dalag snacks mao tuh busog na HAHAHA. For me this activity helps children to be a better individuals and it helps them to know more about what is Flores De Mayo and who is Mama Mary, as a common youth I encourage every children to attend Flores De Mayo for them to be able to know about this and for them to know how to pray the holy rosary. For them to be a better person and be an inspiration to every child in the world.

Flores de Mayo has always been a part of most, if not all, kids' lives here in Barangay Looc. It's a month-long celebration of honoring Mama Mary's bountiful graces, and love towards the people.

Isip sa pagpahigayun sa Culminating Activity karong umaabot Mayo 29, 2022, ang mga Youth Volunteer Catechists dinhi sa atong Barangay nanuktok sa inyong tagsa-tagsa ka kasingkasing alang sa tulong pinansyal para sa mga snacks ug giveaways sa mga bata o attendees.

ANONG KWENTONG FLORES DE MAYO MAYROON KA?

The first thing that would come to my mind every season of Flores de Mayo are the snacks! HAHAHA chariiiz. Kidding aside, I used to be that shy type little girl on the corner, who's afraid if the Kuyas and Ates would call my name for an oral recitation regarding our lecture. But I still manage to answer kay good listener baya ta hahaha. I was able to socialize with other kids pud and got to know them if taga asa sila nga Purok hahaha. After Flores, we used to share the lima baynte nga pan ug juice nga giputos na daan sa mga Ates and Kuyas. We often compare the number of tickets we had as these were the bases if pila ka school supplies amo madawat so naning jud oy para maka save sad sila mama. I was quite proud before because they pushed me to participate sa quiz bee during our culmination, and placed a spot. These experiences served as my foundation as I was given the opportunity to become one of those Ates and Kuyas leading this significant event. Before, I honestly don't have the patience for these makukulit kids but as the years passed, my love and care for them also progressed. For me, the true essence of Flores de Mayo aside from sharing of our resources, (may it be our time, knowledge, effort, or financial capacity) is to learn from these experiences and become better individuals who are worthy of God's love and that love of Mama Mary.

ANONG KWENTONG FLORES DE MAYO MAYROON KA?

"Dios te salve, Maria. Llena eres de gracia: El Señor escontigo...". Are you singing the lines while reading? Well, me too. I always feel nostalgic everytime I hear these lines. This song hits me and always reminds me that its already the month of May and of course, of my Flores de Mayo story.

I grew up in a religious family with my mother as a catechist. She was the one who introduced to us, together with my siblings, about flores. I could still recall all the memories and the stories behind those rosaries, the AVE MARIA letters, the singing of the songs and so much more. It always stucks in my mind how innocent the faces of those children were --- smiling, laughing and even excited to hold those letters and offer flowers to Mama Mary in front of the altar.

I was very blessed back then to be one of the "ates" who facilitated and gave lectures to the kids about Mama Mary. It was a different vibe of doing such an act. Moreover, it's really a wonderful feeling to reminisce all those things way back then but what excites me more is that for how many years that had passed, what I had thought that I would never be doing anymore is what I am doing now.

ANONG KWENTONG FLORES DE MAYO MAYROON KA?

Opening that box of flores de mayo paraphernalia was a walk down memory lane. To see the notebooks the kids used to write on, the nametags they used to wear, and the printed culmination programs we made, lead to a realization of how long really it must have been since our last "see you again next May!".

For more than 10 years of my life, I religously participated in the Flores de Mayo every year. I could still remember how I would go with my friends and go around the neighborhood to ask for kalachuchi flowers to bring to the chapel later that day. Or how I would cut santan flowers way before I go to chapel to put them in water, as to help it not wither as fast. I also remember how my friends and I would compare who has the highest number of tickets, keeping them in containers, and treating them as our most valued possession. Now, years passed, and the child that used to be very excited became one of the people who organize and lead the activity. Hence, it warms my heart seeing those kids whom we used to see during the Flores de Mayo, also became one of ates/kuyas who volunteers to make the activity a success.

But, who would've thought that the "see you again, next May", that we said during the 2019 culmination activity, referred to the month of May, 3 years later. However, seeing the familiar faces of kids that attended in 2019, and the new ones as well, made me realize that the eagerness was not lost in those 3 years. It was like the tickets we had as a child, kept hidden, but always treasured. Today, I hope that attending the Flores de Mayo would become one of the highlights of their childhood, as it was with mine.

ANONG KWENTONG FLORES DE MAYO MAYROON KA?

I grew up giddily excited every May of every year, always excited to hold a rosary on my hand and Santan flowers on the other.

Today, May 21, 2022, for the first time in three years, that excitement and joy slowly resparkled in my heart as I celebrate, honor and praise Mother Mary, together with my fellow Ates and Kuyas, and mga inday ug dodong.

What made me even happier were the new faces of the new generation here in our barangay who 'innocently' attended Flores at the chapel; naive, but eager to know more and to feed their mind, heart and soul.

Seeing the kids celebrating Flores with us is definitely a mood booster and a heart-warming event for me who was once like them --- wanting to hold a letter...wanting to offer Mary a flower.
