New Income Tax Rate for January 2023

On January 1, 2023 a new tax table is set to be implemented, see below.

The previous admin has proposed to delay the tax rates until 2026. (Source: https://mb.com.ph/2022/05/25/dof-defer-pit-reduction-remove-vat-exemptions/) However, there is no confirmation whether the current admin and congress will authorize the delay in the implementation of the 2023 tax rates. We'll keep you posted.

Interpretation of BIR RMC 123-2022

BIR memorandum re: clarification on the removal of the 5-year validity period on receipts

Summary:
1. Invoices/Receipts expiring ON or BEFORE July 15, 2022 are mandated to be surrendered to the BIR. The surrendered receipts are to be replaced by a newly-issued receipts/invoices on which the 5-year validity period is no longer applicable. Newly-issued receipts/invoices may be used for more than 5 years until they are fully exhausted.

2. Invoices/Receipts expiring ON July 16, 2022 onwards may be used by the taxpayer until they are fully exhausted. The validity period reflected at the footer of the receipts/invoices shall be disregarded.

2.1. Example, issuance of a receipt/invoice today - September 7, 2022 to a customer with expiration of July 16, 2022 is still valid)

“The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of the General Information Sheet (GIS), following the imposition of another round of enhanced community quarantine in NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal, and the implementation of the SEC Online Submission Tool (OST).

Stock and nonstock corporations will have 90 days from their respective annual meetings to submit their General Information Sheet (GIS) this year.”

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Regulations (RR) No. 11-2020 amending Sec. 2 of RR No. 10-2020 relative to the extension of statutory deadlines and timelines for the filing and submission of any document and the payment of taxes pursuant to Sec. 4 (z) of Republic Act (RA) No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

The extension of due dates shall be made applicable throughout the Philippines. If the new extended due dates fall on a holiday or non-working day, then the submission and/of filing shall be made on the next working day.
