BBM takes early lead in 7-Eleven ‘cup’ polls
Like the previous presidential surveys held by other polling firms, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr, as expected, is dominating another ongoing poll this time conducted by 7-Eleven, a popular chain of convenience stores.
Dubbed ‘7-Election 2022 !’, customers can cast their vote by buying a GULP drink or City Cafe coffee bearing the faces of the major presidential contenders at 7-Eleven’s more than 2,000 outlets nationwide starting March 9, 2022.
As of March 22, 2022, early results posted in the store’s website showed Marcos grabbing a whopping lead with 44% picking him as their next president if elections were held during the survey period.
7-Eleven broke down his numbers to 477,327 votes (258,809 Gulp, 218,518 City Cafe coffee) with 40% choosing him in Metro Manila; 49%, North Luzon; 41%, South Luzon; Visayas, 42% and a huge 53% in Mindanao.
Always the bridesmaid but never the bride (so to speak), Vice President Leni Robredo is again stuck at a distant second hitting 27%.
The kakampink champion got 290,571 votes (162,088 Gulp, 128,483 City Cafe coffee) clinching 30% in Metro Manila; 24%, North Luzon; 30%, South Luzon; 26% in Visayas and a low 15% in Mindanao.
Third place went to ‘undecided’ garnering 15% with 169,049 votes (77,651 Gulp, 91,398 City Cafe coffee).
Rounding up the last two places are Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso with 7% (73,744 votes; 36,838 Gulp; 36,906 City Cafe coffee) and Senators Manny Pacquiao and Panfilo “Ping” Lacson who are statistically tied at fourth place.
Pacquiao got 41,957 votes (18,948 Gulp, 23,009 City Cafe coffee) while Lacson received 38,807 votes (15,980 Gulp, 22,827 City Cafe coffee) technically making him last in the pack.
Unfortunately, labor leader Ka Leody de Guzman, who has been making waves with his fiery statements and responses during interviews and debates, has been excluded in the cup survey.
The mock cup poll is set to run until April 27, 2022.

SURVEY WARS: Can Leni still topple BBM?
The results of Pulse Asia’s latest presidential survey did not come as a surprise for everyone.
Conducted from February 18-23, 2022, perennial frontrunner former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, once more, came out on top with 60% out of 2,400 respondents overwhelmingly picking him as their next president if elections were held during the poll period.
His numbers did not increase nor decrease bearing the same result during the firm’s January 19 to 24, 2022 survey.
Unfortunately, his ‘pink’ nemesis Vice President Leni Robredo is still lagging behind at a far second and worst, her numbers went down, again.
From an impressive 20% in Pulse Asia’s Dec 1 to 6, 2021 poll, her figures shockingly dropped to 16% in a Jan 19 to 24, 2022 survey.
The trajectory continued its downward spiral hitting 15% in the new poll.
Robredo and her kakampinks may have to work triple time if they want to topple the son of the late ousted dictator, former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.
With barely 50 days to go before over 65 million voters troop to their respective precincts to pick their next leader, the same questions still remain:
Do you think Robredo can still beat Marcos in presidential surveys and eventually emerge as the victor?
Or will Marcos finally reclaim his family’s glory and be elected as the Philippine’s 17th president? JOSE RONALD F. SIONGCO/GDM

Letter “O” - who will Duterte endorse for president?
Acting Presidential Spokesperson and Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, in an online interview on Wednesday, revealed that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte may endorse a presidential bet whose name bears the letter “o”.
Looking at the major contenders, all their names contain the letter “o”: former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr, Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Manny Pacquiao.
When asked to provide a letter that Duterte would less likely support, Andanar’s answer was “U”.
Among the five, only Pacquiao’s name has the letter “U” in it.
Last week, Duterte said in a speech during the inauguration of the Narvacan Farmers Market, in Ilocos Sur that he is set to leave Malacañang Palace and told the audience to choose “kung sinong Ilocano na leader ang ilagay ninyo doon.”
Of the five above, Marcos is the only one who hails from Ilocos Norte where he also served as Governor, Vice Governor and Congressman.
Marcos is also the running mate of his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
