The Hotel Tavern family mourns the passing of one of its founding directors, Atty. Claro Luis G. Garcia. He helped Hotel Tavern re-emerge as the leading hotel in Surigao.

Atty. Garcia passed peacefully this afternoon at the age of 91 in the company of his loved ones. His remains will be brought to the Surigao Memorial Park Chapel tomorrow at 10am Dec. 12. We request that visitors follow all Park rules and regulations as well as government-sanctioned COVID-19 health protocols.

Atty. Garcia was OIC-Vice Governor for Surigao del Norte in 1986 after the People Power Revolution. Aside from farming and lawyering, he founded a rural bank and an iconic fuel station. He also served as President of the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President of the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines, and Director of the Mindanao Business Council.
