Subanon (also called Subanen or Subanun), in the Philippines, is an indigenous tribe in the Zamboanga peninsula area, particularly living in the mountainous areas of Zamboanga del Sur and Misamis Occidental in Mindanao. The name Subanon means "“a person or people of the river."
By virtue of Proclamation No. 798, s. 1991, October was declared "Museum and Galleries Month", seeking to foster the preservation, enrichment, and dynamic evolution of a Filipino national culture based on the principle of unity in diversity in a climate of free artistic and intellectual expression. As a nation's cultural heritage is one of the foundations of nation-building and is an element in the shaping of national destiny, the rich cultural heritage of the Filipino people depicting their aspirations for unity in diversity, deserves preservation. There is then a need to arouse the national consciousness and pride in our rich culture and national identity, expressed in all media of art and culture, historical and religious artifacts.
Your city could be home to at least one museum or cultural gallery. Let's visit a museum this month and revisit our colorful and storied past, so we could gather knowledge and inspiration for our present and future.

We want to hear from you, teachers! What do you like most about teaching? Why do you teach? Answer and tag other teachers whose reasons for teaching could just inspire others to be educators!
The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth". ~Dan Rather
