By virtue of Proclamation No. 798, s. 1991, October was declared "Museum and Galleries Month", seeking to foster the preservation, enrichment, and dynamic evolution of a Filipino national culture based on the principle of unity in diversity in a climate of free artistic and intellectual expression. As a nation's cultural heritage is one of the foundations of nation-building and is an element in the shaping of national destiny, the rich cultural heritage of the Filipino people depicting their aspirations for unity in diversity, deserves preservation. There is then a need to arouse the national consciousness and pride in our rich culture and national identity, expressed in all media of art and culture, historical and religious artifacts.

Your city could be home to at least one museum or cultural gallery. Let's visit a museum this month and revisit our colorful and storied past, so we could gather knowledge and inspiration for our present and future.
