Races in Eastern Visayas are very technical with their navigation; in large part because of Jason Garrido's influence ever since the first La Routa. Other race directors in the region come from a La Routa background and have adopted the same mindset

An inclination towards navigationally-oriented adventure races have produced really great navigators over the many decades of racing here

One can say it's a trademark of the type of racers the Eastern Visayas AR community produces: physically strong teams with strong navigational skills

Team Dirt is mighty proud to come from such a community, and we try our best to uphold this lineage of adventure racers

It's been a week since HSAC. The team hasn't really slowed down these past few days. In fact, they continued with their tranings and are now gearing for another race happening next week: Sangyaw Adventure Race, a 36 hour race hosted by Tribu Harbat

This is considered a very navigationally-technical race that follows a similar format to La Routa

Sangyaw AR starts June 21, 2024

Gil has been in the racing scene since the late 2000s. It will be the first time we are teaming up with him though, but we do know what he is capable of

He's the powerhouse of any team he belongs to. We raced with Gil and his team Aplot Adventure Racing during last year's La Routa Adventure Race, and they were zoom zooming across the course

Gil rounds up our racer line up for the upcoming races, including Sangyaw AR next week by Tribu Harbat Mountaineers Inc.

Quincy is another new addition to our racer pool. New to the team, but not new to AR. Quincy has been racing for more than a decade now. Navigation and strategy is where he excels; he'll be navigating for our second team at Sangyaw AR next weekend

It's great to bring new blood into our team mix. For Ormoc, we brought Kai Kai Cabillo under our wing

Kai is our eager 22 year old racer for Team Dirt who hails from a football background. She was more than excited to be part of this team, and we want to cultivate this energy into something that can take Dirt AR further out there

In this photo, we have Kai in the abseil section of Ormoc Eco Adventure, supported by 2 other new members of Dirt who we'll profile soon enough :)

Kai will be racing again in Sangyaw Adventure Race happening next weekend, June 21-22, 2024

It's mind blowing to think the race course went up 3 prominent summits in the area, including Leyte's highest peak: Alto

Props to our team and all the racers for stepping up to the challenge!

Our first races are coming up next week with a team going to Malaysia and another to Ormoc.

Yep we've expanded our pool of racers this year. This should provide good rotation of racers within ourselves

With this, the team's been busy getting everything in order. Theyre in the messy phase of laying gear down to see if anything's missing before packing it into proper boxes and duffels

An adventure race starts way before the gunstart

Last April 29, we assisted Jason Garrido and Bukid Outdoor Shop with the Land Navigation 101 lecture at Rancho Maria Lucas, Sta. Rita, Samar

It was a fun overnighter with these new batch of land navigators. Congrats everyone!
