Doc, bumili ako ng over-the-counter reading glasses at and sabi sa akin ay +1.50 daw and grado para sa edad ko. Ngunit ng ito ay aking isinuot, hindi ko mabasa ang mga letra sa aking cellphone. Bakit ganoon Doc?

Maraming dahilan kung bakit hindi nagiging malinaw ang reading glass. Ilan sa mga ito ay ang sumusunod:

1. Hindi magandang klase na lente ang nakalagay sa salamin.

2. Hindi tugma sa iyo ang grado ng reading glass. Nangyayari ito kapag:
a. Mayroon kang grado para sa pangmalayo. Kapag gumagawa ng reading glass, kailangang masukat muna ng iyong doktor kung mayroon kang grado sa malayo. Dinagdag ito sa iyong grado sa pangmalapit upang makuha ang akmang grado ng reading glass.

b. Hindi pantay ang grado ng iyong mata. Ang mga over-the-counter reading glass ay mayroong fixed na grado para sa dalawang lente ng salamin. Maaring mangyari na hindi pantay ang grado ng dalawang mata na magiging sanhi ng malabong OTC reading glass

c. Hindi akma ang grado ng reading glass para sa iyong "working distance". Iba-iba ang pangangailangan ng mata depende sa layo o lapit ng binabasa. Kapag mas malapit ka magbasa, mas mataas ang kailangang grado ng reading glass. Kung ikaw naman ay malayo magbasa, mas mababa na grado ng reading glass ang iyong kailangan.

3. Mayroong ibang problema ang iyong mata na hindi kayang masolusyunan ng salamin. Importante magpatingin sa doktor upang masiguradong malusog at walang problema ang mata.

PAALALA: Kung ang iyong nais ay reading glass lamang, mas maigi paring magpakonsulta sa iyong doktor upang mabigyan ka ng tama at angkop na grado base sa iyong pangangailangan.

Taliwas sa pag-aakala ng nakararami, ang salamin ay hindi nagdudulot ng pagtaas ng grado o lalong paglabo ng paningin. Maraming mga Pilipino ang ayaw gumamit ng salamin sa pag-aakalang lalong lalabo ang kanilang paningin kpag nagsimula na silang magsuot ng salamin.

Kadalasan ko itong naririnig sa mga pasyenteng may edad 40 pataas. Sa mga ganitong edad nagsisimula ang natural na paglabo ng paningin sa malapit na kung tawagin ay Aging Eyes. Ito ay natural na pangyayari dala ng pagkawala ng flexibility ng natural na lente ng mga mata, at ito ay patuloy na mangyayari habang nagkakaedad ang isang tao. Pansamantalang nabibigyan ito ng solusyon sa pamamagitan ng pagsuot ng salamin. Hindi napipigilan ng salamin ang aging eyes at kadalasang mapapansing muli ang panlalabo ng mata pagkalipas ng 1 o 2 taon depende sa liit ng mga letra na binabasa.

Mahalagang Paalala Ukol sa Aging Eyes: ANG PAGLABO NG MATA DULOT NG AGING EYES AY PATULOY NA MANGYAYARI KAHIT HINDI MAGSUOT NG SALAMIN. ANG SALAMIN AY MAKAKATULONG UPANG PANSAMANTALANG MAPANUMBALIK ANG LINAW NG PANINGIN.
