[MUN Series] 3 Steps to Frame Your Topic ✍🏻🏆
One of our students used to pose an intriguing question: How can we conduct research on our topic if the background guide or topic summary has not been provided? To excel as a Best Delegate, you must not wait for the guide to be posted or depend on unclear background guides. To overcome procrastination, I suggest proactively using the technique of Framing Your Topic. Here's a breakdown of how this three-part process operates.

[MUN Series] Rules of Procedure in MUN - Part 5: Court Procedure 🇺🇳🗞
In the previous four articles in our series on Rules of Procedure (ROP) in MUN, TGC has introduced you to four rules: UNA-USA, THIMUN, UN4MUN, and Crisis Procedure. In this installment, we will introduce you to the fifth ROP: Court Procedure, a fascinating MUN ROP with distinct differences from other MUN rules. If you have the opportunity to participate in an MUN conference with this ROP, what strategy would you adopt?
✨Let's first explore "Court Procedure"!
While generally not considered a typical MUN, many court simulations do emulate various international courts, such as the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC). Court committees in MUN provide a unique experience, as delegates do not represent a state but rather serve as judges in a regional or international court. The committee's chairs act as lawyers, and debates focus on judges discussing various aspects of a simulated historical crisis. While parliamentary rules apply, special procedures include no speaker's list, moderated and unmoderated caucuses to drive debate, and the invitation of witnesses to testify. Witnesses representing both sides enter the committee throughout the conference, and delegates can question them for evidence and debate. Instead of resolutions, judges develop individual verdicts, presented in judicial ruling format with an explanation.

This four-week programme was a meticulously designed educational experience aimed at equipping delegates with a deep understanding of ASEAN’s roles, mechanisms, and impact on international relations. Through a series of comprehensive modules, participants explored topics ranging from the history and structure of ASEAN to the finer points of consensus-building and protocol. The course placed a heavy emphasis on practical skills, such as drafting position papers and crafting chairman statements, and culminated in simulated council sessions where delegates could apply their newfound knowledge and competencies.
The programme successfully engaged PNU students on navigating the complexities of ASEAN diplomacy and governance. The delegates were able to showcase their skills on negotiation, debate, presentation, collaboration, and consensus-building to thrive in the complex yet stimulating framework of Model ASEAN. ✨🤝

🌐[MUN Series] A Type of Rules of Procedure in MUN (ROP) 📝
Let's continue exploring the Rules of Procedure (ROP) with TGC. Just to remind you, ROP is a set of regulations and guidelines used to maintain order and ensure that debates are conducted effectively and stay on topic. These rules outline how delegates will conduct discussions, propose and pass resolutions, and vote on issues. Previously, TGC introduced you to ROP types like UNA-USA, THIMUN, and UN4MUN. In this article, let's dive into Crisis Procedure,
—-------------
Crisis Procedure
Crisis Committees in MUN offer a distinct experience from standard General Assembly committees, characterised by a rapid pace and unique structural differences. Instead of engaging in large discussions with 200 participants, crisis committees involve 20-30 delegates addressing a continuous stream of problems. Unlike traditional committees representing countries, crisis committees often portray characters or non-country entities. The committee operates without a speaker's list, opting for a perpetually moderated caucus with set speaker times. Instead of resolutions, crisis committees pass committee directives, which differ by not requiring pre-ambulatory clauses and having one to four operative clauses. These directives can lead to real action, depending on the committee's jurisdiction. Notably, delegates can issue personal directives in secret, granting them personal power, such as directing armies or ordering actions without committee approval. The outcome of both personal and committee directives is determined by the crisis backroom, adding an element of unpredictability. Success in crisis committees requires thorough research and adaptability, as the committee's direction evolves rapidly.

LKCNHM is not just a museum but also a scientific research center, partnering with numerous scientists and research organizations to explore and conserve biodiversity.
During their visit to LKCNHM, TGC students gained knowledge in natural sciences, including biology, geology, and environmental conservation. The museum's interactive activities and exhibits sparked their curiosity and passion for scientific research, while also raising their awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and wildlife.
🐠 Standing before the extensive collection of specimens, all TGC students were amazed and delighted. These moments of curiosity and eagerness to explore have been captured in our photos.

🏡 Teach Able & Enabling Village - A Visit Filled with Special Feelings 🦽
🌳 Located in a serene green area on Lengkok Bahru, Enabling Village features uniquely designed spaces where people with disabilities, regardless of their impairments, can work, live, play, and integrate into society. By visiting Enabling Village, our students got to see how the Singaporean government and various social organizations support and assist the disabled community.
During this visit, students explored Tech Able's office, an organization dedicated to providing technology solutions for people with disabilities. The tour was led by a Tech Able staff member who is visually impaired. Despite the room being about 50m², students were able to see firsthand how devices are designed and improved to help individuals with disabilities use technology in various aspects of life, including work, education, daily activities, and entertainment. 🎮✨
☀️🌱 Students also experienced activities like playing Uno cards as if they were visually impaired, using kitchen appliances designed for wheelchair users, and trying on clothes that can be worn with one hand. They discovered that technology doesn't need to be flashy or complex to make a difference for people with disabilities. We hope these experiences will inspire the TGC campers to create meaningful social projects in the future that support their communities.
Check out the photos below from the visit to Tech Able at Enabling Village during the STEM & Innovation Summer Camp in Singapore earlier this July.
