Who would have thought a pandemic could finally push one to pursue a decade-long dream?

This was exactly what happened to Jeffrey Pizarra, a Group Sales Manager in a real estate company, back in March.

From living selling condominiums in the metro, he now produces and sells the tastiest frozen food products for Mia’s Teriyaki Girl. Gourmet-tasting Filipino dish staples now could never be more easier to cook:

“I’ve always wanted to put up a business, but I allowed my fears and worries to talk me out of it, especially as I had been receiving a monthly salary to support my family,” says Jeffrey. But then the quarantine happened which in turn greatly affected his livelihood. Living expenses were piling up and he had to get creative fast!

That was when he finally decided to take the leap from being an employee to becoming a full-fledged entrepreneur. He realized that the challenges he once feared may be real, but they could also be overcome. From offering his products online to strangers to budgeting to managing stocks and inventory, he had to learn it all whilst on-the-job – this time as the owner of Mia’s Teriyaki Girl.

And why Mia, you may ask? He named his very first business venture after his only daughter, an inspiration and a reminder that life will always be sweet no matter what may come his way: “I want her to be proud of what I’ve built. I hope that I was able to create an enterprise that I could pass on to her in the future.”

He knew failure is not an option and for his dream to come to fruition, he’d have to work doubly hard and, luckily, he’s got his family who took every opportunity to show their support. Asked what’s next for Mia’s Teriyaki Girl, Jeffrey envisions having physical stores and, eventually, a restaurant of his own. With a growing number of resellers, he is very well on his way to his vision of spreading his Mia’s Teriyaki Girl across the online community and many, many more places in the country.
