We pay tribute to Mr. Jose Tomas M. Cabagay, who served with dedication as the Assistant Director of the Technology Transfer and Promotion Division, DOST-PCAARRD. He passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 65.

You may visit his remains at Heaven's Garden in Los Baños, Laguna until Friday, August 23, 2024. The cremation service will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we share the news of the passing of our dear colleague, mentor, and friend, City S&T Office Director, Mr. Arnel M. Rodriguez who dedicated his life to serving the people.

Sir A served the public through DOST XI for many years and and has left a positive impact on the lives of many. As we grieve the loss of Sir A, we also celebrate the profound impact he made in the lives of many especially the communities he served.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

You will forever remain in our hearts, Sir A. Rest in peace.

Ms. Mechelle D. Balboa, Senior Science Research Specialist of TAPI-IDD together with Engr. Marvin Eric O. Dela Cruz, Senior Science Research Specialist of TIPD-IDD, is now part of Inter-Agency Technical Evaluation Group (IATEG) and DOST-TAPI representative for the DOST-S&T Foundation Unit (S**U).

The functions of IATEG are to review and evaluate the proposed Scientific and Technological Activities (STA), programs, and/or specific R&D projects of certified science foundations, private or individuals firms, and educational institutions including conduct of site visitations as part of evaluation and monitoring process and to submit evaluation, recommendations and investigation reports which are all aligned to the purposes and objectives of DOST-S**U for scientific advancement that are essential for national development and progress.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲! As we turn 36 today, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each individual who has chosen to believe in us and the services we are providing.

Last year, DOST-TAPI launched a few programs to increase its support for invention and innovation development activities. Let’s take a refresher and learn about these new and improved DOST-TAPI programs:

𝗠𝗔𝗣 or Marketing Assistance Program provides technical assistance to Filipinos with DOST-TAPI-sponsored, created, assisted, or funded technology. The program intends to help the proponent in establishing marketing plans including a more targeted approach in their conception, development, and ex*****on.

𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝟮.𝟬 or Honing Innovations, Research, Agreements and Negotiations of the Government-Funded Technologies 2.0 is a program that raises the investment readiness level of startups and DOST spinoffs by providing consulting services, capacity building, and other forms of financial aid.

𝗚𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚, formerly known as TOPUP, stands for Grants and Assistance to Leverage Innovations for National Growth. It provides support to inventors in the development and enhancement of their invention’s technology readiness level to ameliorate its specialized viability and marketability. The program consists of an all-encompassing bundle of assistance intended to help inventors in their pre-commercialization activities.

This year’s celebration follows the theme of 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐆, which stands for 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡. Sinag is a Tagalog word for rays or beams of light.

Despite the challenge brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, DOST-TAPI strived to provide quality assistance through its invention and innovation development programs. And it shows in our humble achievements.

Last year, under our Director Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena’s leadership, DOST-TAPI unveiled its roadmap for 2023 to 2032 and beyond.

The said UM applications were applied for Intellectual Property (IP) Protection in 2019 thru the assistance of the DOST-TAPI. The IP Rights Assistance Program (IPRAP) of the IDD is a globally unique program of assistance being offered by the DOST-TAPI to provide technical and funding assistance in securing appropriate IP protection of completed R&D projects generated/funded by Filipino public and private researchers, innovators, and technologists.

The UM Registration Grants Certificates were received for DMMMSU by Prof. Anabella G. Valdez and Prof. Keneth G. Bayani from Mr. Caezar Angelito E. Arceo, Officer-in-Charge of the TAPI-IDD, and Ms. Anna Liza B. Saet, Senior Science Research Specialist and the Program Manager of IPRAP last 11 July 2022 at the DOST-TAPI.
