The URDU Story
It all started with two childhood buddies. Jimmy Urquico and Rene Dungca, fresh out of college and high in entrepreneurial spirit, felt the need to put up a trendy eatery in their beloved hometown of Tarlac fondly called then “soda fountain”.
The idea came to fruition when the restaurant tritely named URDU Soda Fountain (coined from the first syllables of their surnames), opened its doors and served their first chicken barbecue and clubhouse sandwich on the 30th day of October, 1965.
A few years later, Rene pursued his dream of being a lawyer (and successfully did), while Jimmy determinedly stayed on and kept the restaurant afloat, and successfully expanded the restaurant with an event place and burgeoning catering business.
